user reviews of the Lammastide Inn, Berkeley

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Visited last week after a wander around the very interesting Purton Boat Graveyard. Good reviews in the CAMRA Guide so had high hopes about the beer (Butcombe on draught did not dissappoint) but the real impression was made by the food. Huge portions - really good value. Cheery service as well. All enough to motivate me to finally register to give this pub the praise it deserves.

The Lammastide Inn is another rural Gloucestershire pub that is a little off the beaten track. With no cars in the car park and none of the pub lights on outside, we were unsure about whether or not it was open. But inside, a group of locals were busily engaged in drinking games and spending quite a bit of money in the process. Whilst they were concentrating on the shorts, the ales on offer were Butcombe Bitter, Bass & Wye Valley Bitter. The locals seemed friendly enough. But I didn't quite warm to this pub.

Had Sunday lunch in this place a few weeks back. Food was pretty good and well priced. London Pride on tap in good condition, pretty friendly place all round.

Lost in the Severnside lanes between Purton and Berkeley, this pub is well worth seeking out. Its food is good value, with a unique touch, and it keeps its real ales well - always had a guest ale.
