The St George & Dragon has a good location overlooking a curve in the River Thames. The patio and the riverbank areas both have tables to sit back, relax and take in the views, watch the boats and spot the birdlife. The interior is more restaurant than pub. Doom Bar & Pride are the only ales. There was a strong smell of fish during our late morning visit. Good location. But the pub could be better.

The place looks good and is in a fantastic location, but is let down by disorganised service and average food given the prices. Visited at 6pm on a Sunday evening for food when it wasn’t particularly busy, but the staff seemed to lack any system for dealing with customers. Waited for twenty minutes for a table (they needed to clear a few plates and re-set it) and had to ask for menus. The man who took our order did so without a notepad – a neat trick, but ruined when you have to come back to confirm the order five minutes later (good thing too, as he’d got it wrong). Food was ok, but would have expected vegetables, especially with the child portions. The bill was incorrect as well. On the plus side the staff were friendly and I’m sure a “drinks only” experience in the evening sunshine by the Thames would have been fine – they definitely need better processes for food customers.

I visited with a friend on Tue 24 Apr 12. It was a quiet lunchtime in between heavy showers. I guess there were 30 customers at most.

Our two simple dishes, fish pie and fish cake, took 50 minutes to emerge from the kitchen which is astonishing for an M&B branded regenerated menu operation. The portions were mean albeit edible.

Very poor value. Don't go unless it's sunny and you want to be by the river for a drink.

Doesn't really count as a pub. It looks as if it should be stand-alone but the feel inside is of a chain. Staff are on the officious side of efficient. Not unpleasant but no charm.

I visit this pub at regular intervals usually as part of a walk. Other reviewers seem to have been unlucky. This is really a restaurant but whenever I turn up for drinks only the reception has always been friendly. With so much of the Thames being off limits to places of refreshment the location of the St George is excellent - sit on the terrace or the Thames river bank for great views and duck feeding.

On the food side, choose carefully and the food can be fine and not too heavy in nature either.
