Under new management again since February
Pleasant but ordinary, ale selection improve with 3 taps
Bottled beer is. Fearsomely expensive and pints are not cheap, for Yorkshire

Recently updated, generic up market feel in terms of removed all carpets and upgraded menu. Apparently run by the son of the previous grumpy landlord, who didn't run a bad pub is was just boring. Now it's actually a decent food pub, but not gastro, think massive big sheet menus, wood floor but normal pub food and ambience. It's fine and way better than many others within walking distance

I visited the Fishermans Inn on 13th July 2011 while on holiday on the adjacent Leeds and Liverpool Canal. This is a good overnight mooring. Most pubs along this canal are some disctance from it, but this one really is next to the towpath.

This pub was welcoming. The beer was good - I had a decent pint of Copper Dragon and then equally good Taylor's Landlord. The food was good home cooking, not mass produced microwave fare. They make a good effort to procure locally.

I rarely give feedback on-line but my friends and I were nearly put off from having what turned out to be a pleasent evening by the miserable message below. Whatever the rights or wrongs there of what looks like a personaility clash, I feel the record should be put straight on what is a good pub.

My pint of Copper Dragon was cloudy and tasted of sediment. When I asked for it to be changed I was given another one that was just as bad. When I politely took that back I was threatened with violence, then threatened with the police unless I left immediately. The landlord had already been rude separately first to my brother (for drinking shandy instead of beer) and then my girlfriend (for paying for the round!) He then gave the pint, which I had already had a sip of to another customer! I was stunned.

I wonder if some of the other reviews of this pub here are fakes. They do look a bit suspicious as the wording looks very similar. They read more like adverts than real reviews. It is possible that there has been a change of landlord since the reviews were done because the present landlord is so rude and aggressive that I wondered if he was in the middle of some sort of mental breakdown.

Avoid this pub at all costs. Life's too short!
