A pleasant enough pub, but incredibly expensive for the area.

The place was friendly and welcoming. Great to be able to sit out in the garden. After recently moving to the area I am pleased to have found a good little local to frequent.

Unexceptional but vital community asset that spotted a gap in the market by taking in the Hopback Summer Lightning that was discarded by the discount booze purveyors now in charge at the nearby Coronation. Several recent trips have confimed the beer is of absolutely stupendous quality, but a use-it-or-lose-it atmosphere prevails and I fear for the future unless Bristol beer drinkers wake up to what's happening to community locals like this and start frequenting them in greater number. And when the ale's this good, there's no reason not to.

A fairly small, traditional neighbourhood pub situated a short stroll from Coronation Road. Theres a L-shaped main bar room and a smaller back room that was hosting a popular pub quiz on a recent Thursday night visit. The dcor is a bit dated in some ways, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. I used to come here many years ago and at that time there was a skin-headed barmaid who used to shout and bawl at you to get out as soon as it reached 11:00. Fortunately she seems to have left and the current incumbent seems much friendlier.

The only beer on tap was Courage Best, and although Im not a beer expert to me it seemed a little tired. Ciders were Blackthorn and Natch.

Been rubbish since Roy finished as landlord, say 4 years ago. Had a barman/cellarman (Dave?) at the time who was also top notch. Never had a welcome on subseqeunt visits, and the ale range (was 6x,Butcombe,Best and Bass, now just Best and Bass) and quality has gone. Along with the customers it seems.
