user reviews of the Coach and Horses Inn, Burnley

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Admittedly it doesn't look promising from the outside, and the inside is a bit worn and torn, but this is a friendly and relaxed old pub. The couple who run the pub have been there a couple of years, and are gradually giving it some much needed refurbishment without ruining the character of the place. They are also very welcoming hosts; for example when my friend arrived with a weekend bag they looked after it while we went to the football match.

The pub itself is divided into three main areas, including a pool room at the back which the younger drinkers tend to use. Note the map of Burnley town centre on the ceiling above the front door and the "MBB" (Massey's Burnley Brewery) windows.

On the beer front, you will usually find something from Robinson's plus one or two guests. The beer is well kept but some people find it slightly too cold (well, it has been a cold winter!). A treat during the colder months is Robinson's Old Tom served straight from a cask on top of the bar. You will often find a real cider here too.

A mixed range of customers, generally aged 30+. Usually fairly quiet but can get quite busy and atmospheric when Burnley are at home.

Try it, you might like it.
