I'd not been to this place before yesterday. But it has a wine bar feel to it now. I gather it was a traditional pub before. Doom Bar was on. But we did not want to stay too long.

No Longer a pub for the Locals

Just come back from a weekend in London. Spent 3 great sessions in the pub. Locals are really friendly and the beer was fine - even had a northern head on it! Staff are great and so is the landlady - she even charged my mobile fone for me! Would definitely recommend and we WILL be going back.

In total contrast to the Eagle across the road I found the barmaid and locals in this pub to be very welcoming. The only ale offering was Bombardier and there are no premium lagers, but my Guinness was well served and enjoyable. There is a pool table and a dartboard along with a couple of TVs and a projector screen for airing the sports on Sky.

There is a function type room to the side of the pub that houses two more dartboards and Id imagine that this is where the dart league teams play. There is also an enclosed, but well kept pebbled beer garden out the back which is overlooked by a tall tower block.

This is a good pub for playing/watching sports or for chatting on the sofas towards the rear and I would recommend it to others.

Had twenty minutes to kill before meeting friends at the Wenlock so popped in here to see what it was like. I was slightly worried as to whether I'd be welcome in what is obviously a local's pub, but needn't have been - the pub was friendly and busy early on the Saturday night I visited, with a mixed clientele variously playing pool, watching sport on the box, or just chatting. Friendly service from the barman and I noted the pub's involvement in local dart leagues etc. Ale-wise I could only spot Bombardier, but I had a softie in (correct) anticipation of many ales to follow at the Wenlock. I'd return, I think.
