A food pub. Several real ales served but the kind that you have seen a million times before. Not much else to say, it's okay.

The pub is to be under new management from the 28th May. Food however will only return after the refurbishment due in August 2013. Hopefully though the atmosphere, great beers and good times will return well before then!

Shadow of its former self. Beer range diminished, probably 'cos nobody seems to go there.

Each time I come back it seems to be worst both in atmosphere and ale, last time I went in (3 weeks ago) the current landlord decided to open at 2pm on a Saturday and didn't seem to grasp why me and my mates where messed around by this, errr cos people plan stuff around pub opening hours.... last week it was closed because of a flood. Next time I'm guessing it will be shut for good which will be very sad for a pub which has played such an important part in Rainford village life

What has happened to this once fine pub. You can't buy a pint of real ale for under 2.40, the place is dark and dingy, really tatty and rather quite smelly, service isn't up to much either. I was offered a half of IPA in the wrong sized glass (It was somewhere between a half and a pint...if the manager wonders where his stock is going he knows now)

Went in for some lunch at midday last Monday to find the kitchen closed?? Won't be venturing out of the Star until something changes here.
