First visit for many years. Seem to be coping OK with covid restrictions,(have to pay by card). Beer OK.

Miss Bob Cock whom is now Stateside. Jamiroquai and the local Dutch contingent add to a cheery atmosphere with the lovely Michelle, a far cry from Molley's mongrels.

Will be back.

I tend to visit the Albert on a Saturday evening after an afternoon pre load watching the Big Noses. It has a great juke box, a good mix of stuff. Occasionally a live band playing and an interesting clientele. In particular a rotund elderly lass who has a voice like Chewbacca crossed with Sean Dyche.

This pub is now well worth a visit, after a period in the doldrums after the long-time landlord retired a few years back. Interior decor is a bit spartan but there are usually two or three well-kept real ales available and it certainly merits a stop on a Hitchin crawl now that the Nightingale is no more. It is also offers the rare retro pleasure of going outdoors to get to the Gents! (although they can be reached without doing this).

Lively local with a good selection of real ales. Pleasant, friendly, with a nice barmaid. Not a bad stop-over for a beer before getting the train home.
