Pretty sure that this, now rebranded the Rose, is the sister pub of a boozer of the same name on Essex Road in Islington and while it's shiny and a vector of gentrification, it isn't half bad. Ales such as Southwark's London Pale Ale are well kept and the pizzas decent enough. The beer garden is also massive.

Now rebranded as The Rose Pub and Kitchen. Relevant as the changes are likely to mean some of the reviews of the Hobgoblin are now redundant (whether changes are for better or worse is still an open question!)

Disappointed to have been ignored at a relatively empty bar: three bar staff were working. One in the middle of serving, which was fine, one was busy chatting to a couple of customers at the bar while I was quite clearly waiting. The third served another customer who had blatantly just walked up to the bar while I had been waiting several minutes.

Also annoying that half the pub has been turned into a 'dining room'. If you managed to get a seat but are not eating you get turfed out to make way for people who want to eat. Why not just do what other pubs do and make food available to all seats throughout the pub rather than disturbs paying customers half way through their night?

Was closed (hopefully just for renovations) last time I checked in January 2015. Hopefully it will open again soon, as London can't afford to lose anymore pubs.

Ale is terrible and off in most cases, sadly this pub has gone down hill. Lager is ok and staff are not that bad and The Pub Inside is clean. But what kills this place is the Beer Garden in Summer as it's full of Local Drug Dealers and Addicts, they normally loiter in the Rear Corner of the Beer Garden.
