This is the sort of place that is either 0 or 10 depending on whether you are a beer drinker or a bird on a hen do.

Was dragged in here for a last drink on Saturday night. Got a seat at the bar ok but waited ages to get served. Standard cocktails were around 9.00 up to around 12.00 for champagne ones. They had a list of beers which certainly included Schneider Weisse but it was over 5 a throw.

Not sure we could see the river but there were lots of lights. Unlikely to be back unless I am going out with a girl coming here is likely to lead to a shag.

we must have been sat next to each other! i too was there last night expecting both a romantic river view and some nice jazz. what we got was an (admittedly fantiastic) overpriced cocktail seved by impatient waitresses. i did manage to glimpse the river(eventually) by joining the smokers on the balcony. this, however, involved walking through the restaurant and the aforementioned poncey food to freeze outside.
the best thing about this bar? the very nice poster art adorning the walls.

Shockingly poor.

I phoned up earlier this week as I was taking my wife out on a surprise night out in the area and I wanted to know (a)if they had a bar with river views and (b)if they had any live jazz (as was advertised on their website). I was told that they had both, when in actual fact, I found out on arrival, they had neither.

The bar area is actually at the back of the building, so affords a decent view of Stamford Street (ie. the arse end of SE1, ie. rubbish). Plus it has around the same kind of decor, atmosphere and general feel of a fairly low class airport lounge.

To be fair, the cocktails were superb, but also really stupidly overpriced - I suppose the idea is to appeal to the aspirational sheep who feel that being seen at such a 'top-notch Harvey Nicks type joint' is more important than good service, nice surroundings or not being lied to by the bar manager.

The food looked right poncy too. Never going back.

Pricey, but with a view like this, it's very much worth it.
