Went here Sunday May 2nd 2010 due to Crown @ Elford being refurbed and not doing Sunday lunch what a stroke of luck. Turned up dead on 12 as son was playing Cricket in Elford so we had be back for 1pm. Pub was only just opening an was a little disorganised HOWEVER the people were really friendly and the Sunday lunch was bloomin AWESOME. My wife an Foster boy had Pork & I had Beef served with the most delicate homemade Yorkie pud, Roast & boiled potato fresh veg which was so soft & scrummy Peas, carrots, cauliflower, parsnips, cabbage, The meat was tender perfectly cooked and just a dream to eat. What a find, great food in a friendly atmosphere in a family run pub. Ignore previous comments I'm a fat bloke & I love my food this was not good food this was fantastic food. WE WILL BE BACK :-)

Went to the white Lion in March this year with some friends. We were disapointed at how it looked from the outside, not very "White" at all however never say never. A young girl showed us to our table near the blackboard (Dont sit here as you feel as though you are in a shop window when people read it) Very expensive for PUB food and very basic accompanyments like chips or jacket potato which one froend said was still frozen in the middle. no real veggie selection. A woman in flip flops and leggings seemed to be in charge but was not very friendly at all and her leggings looked to be covered in dog hair's. Not very appetising at all. If you want to try a real clean quaint country pub with good food try "The Green Man" in Clifton which is about 2 miles past here and they seem to appreciate your custom considerably more and are realistic on prices and selection. Biggest let down was the woman in charge

Me, my husband and his mother went here for dinner on her 74th Birthday, 30th August last. As no advertised opening hours we went personally to make booking - lady in charge was unfriendly. On the night, same lady (40ish) was extremely rude to us when we politely asked for a gap between starter and mains (on a previous visit the mains arrived whilst we were still on starters). Conversely the young girl that served us was delightful and the food was reasonable both in terms of quality and price. Rating is low because of the woman in charge - until they get a new "front of house" person we would not visit here again. Pity as it's quite a nice place.

Took friends to the White Lion, and had a good meal.Roast Lamb, 4 veggies, roast parsnips, roast potatoes, and plenty of gravy. Didnt like the sachets of mint sauce which, in itself was far too vinegary. This was for Sunday Lunch so we booked. The only drawback was the fact that we were sitting to the left of the menu boards and one of our party had to get up and relate what was on them as there was no written menu. The staff as always were very friendly and helpful, we didnt have to wait overlong for our food and when is came there was plenty and it was hot. The Vegetables were to my liking tho some of the others in our party said that the cauliflower was too el dente...The rhubarb and plum crumble looked delicious as was the strawberry cheesecake and lemon meringue pie.We shall definately be going again.
