Visited in February. Without doubt one of the great pubs of England. First class landlord and friendly locals. If you like bland theme pubs or big brewery pubs, dont visit. If you like a unique pub that is a beacon of what pubs once were and should be.....then visit. If landlord goes it will never be the same so don't miss it !

Recommended by the bar lady at the excellent 'The `George' in Blackawton.

It's everything a good pub should be ! Welcoming. slightly shambolic furnishings, well kept beer - the Otter Bitter, and the Eddystone were both in fine form - and the best Stilton Ploughman's I've had in eons !

I'd happily have a lock-in here !

Visited this pub for lunch for the first time last week. My first impression was that it looked a bit worn and untidy, so I was a bit concerned about what was to come.
But there was no reason to worry; we ordered Fish Pie, and it was delicious food. I guess at least 85 percent fish with boiled potato slices on top, served with green peas.
And they had 2 real ales on tap, from South Hams Brewery. We started with Devon Pride, and had Eddystone for dessert, both ales in top conditions. The Eddystone was tapped from a wooden barrel. A village pub absolutely to recommend.

Absolutely brilliant. Had a couple of pints and a ploughmans on a sunny day after walking the coast path from Salcombe. Would happily go back again when in the area.

Visited this little gem after a gap of 4 years. Thankfully nothing changed un-like alot of other pubs. No pretentions, just a proper pub with real people behind the bar and the clientelle. Defo worth a visit and the tripm to get there!
