| Fantastic little local pub, on the village green. Lunch was simple but good value. There's always a beer on from the nearby Scottish Borders Brewery, which is always fantastic. Dedicated landlord, very friendly and helpful. Very friendly and chatty locals, there's a great atmosphere that makes the pub very welcoming and homey. | Walked 5 miles from Hawick to try Game Bird, brewed just a few minutes along the road by Scottish Borders Brewery. I'd driven past this wee gem for about 15 years when I worked in Kelso, always meant to pop in, but never did! The bar is small, with a fire and a large screen tv, the staff and locals are friendly, the beer is great (well the Game Bird was!) and the food is too! | Nice watering hole after long slog from Jedburgh on Borders Abbey Way - had one ale on but this was a LocALE from Scottish Borders Brewery - nice. Locals friendly and offered us to camp down in their garden and get lashed in Denholm with them - we declined politely and kipped down on the Teviot watching the wildlife. kernott1 - 5 Jun 2012 18:21 |
| This place is beerintheevening gold. Without knowing anything about it you'd drive straight past.. but you'd be missing out. Nice little pub with a great front room (any pub you enter at lunchtime in decemeber that has a game of dominoes going and an open fire is a winner in my book) service as warm as could be.
