I recently visited the Cardwell Inn for a meal and to put it mildly the food and the experience wasn't very nice. I had previously visited the premises sometime ago and found the food and experience to be very nice. However on this occasion I wasn't impressed whatsoever. On arrival the place was quiet with some customers spread throughout the premises. On viewing the menu there wasn't a lot to choose from. I ordered some drinks and noticed the male serving me had yellow teeth! Nonetheless, myself and my wife ordered some food. I decided to have the Steak & Sausage pie and my wife choose the Scampi. It took 30 minutes to arrive (rather long considering the place was quiet). The waitress served the meal with an old dish cloth which was clearly very dirty. I can only describe my Steak Pie as being "tough" and undercooked. My wife's scampi & chips looked as if it was reheated and you could clearly see that the oil had got inside each piece of scampi and effectively cremated it. Not exactly the standard you expect, particularly when you are paying nearly 15 for two plates of pub grub! I will definetely not be back after this experience. Bryce70 - 19 Jun 2007 20:00 |
This has recently been taken over by new management and offers all homemade food which is reasonably priced and very tasty. It is run by a very friendly family who always offer all their customers a very warm welcome. Excellent views from the conservatory across the River Clyde and located in a great beauty spot which provides a great reward at the end of any summer evening walk. anonymous - 24 May 2007 12:01 |
The Cardwell is a bit of an "Old Man's Pub" but will welcome anyone with a great range of drinks. Food is pretty good and well priced. kingston_toon - 26 Sep 2005 11:12 |
