user reviews of the Bull Inn, Paisley

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

My 3rd pub in Paisley and this was the most attractive, a proper old fashioned ale house with lots of charm.

Lovely stain glass windows, lots of wood panelling & an interesting ornate wooden bar.

4 hand pumps dispensing 3 ales, the pint of Kelburn Regnitz was very vinegary & not very enjoyable, but that might have been a combination of the beer itself and unclear pipes.

Overall it’s a nice pub but I feel the beer let it down on my visit, if I’m in the area again with time to kill I’ll give it another go.

Oldboots has pretty well summed up this little gem - Loch Lomond and Eden ales on my visit and both very good. It's in CAMRA's list of unspolit pubs and should be seen. Food is available and the loos have obviously been done out recently as they are modern bright and clean. I liked it and would recommend a visit.

Long, dark and narrow, lots of dark wood, an interesting bar counter, and small snugs tucked away at the back of the room make this an interesting bar, the three air pumps with reasonably kept Harviestoun beers also help to make it one of the more characterful places to drink in Paisley. The main bar has the counter down one side and bench seating with tables and chairs down the other. Walls are panelled wood decorated with lots of old photos of the area. The afore mentioned snugs are small half glazed rooms at the rear of the main room, the bar seems to be used by the drinking men and the snugs by the women, couples and small mixed groups of friends. There are screens and machines of course and the punters seem a friendly bunch. The staff were pretty much on the ball as well.

I wasn't really that impressed by this pub. Situated in the heart of Paisley town centre, it is always rammed full, but to be honest, I can't see why. Service and staff are average and the range of drinks served is good, but nothing out of the ordinary. As for the food, don't bother - overpriced and barely edible. I did try it again after my first disappointment, just in case it was a one-off, but alas, it was just as unappetising. Probably just worth going in here if you are with a group of mates and just want to hang out, but definitely don't have the food!
