user reviews of the Phoenix Bar, Edinburgh

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Popped in to watch the second half the the Scotland v Netherlands match, was chocker and a really good atmosphere, waited a while to be served but only due to amount of people there. Staff were great and Guinness was better!

Worth a visit, especially when Scotland are playing!

Broughton Street is a great wee street for drinking in with the Cask, Barony and the Basement but in my opinion the Phoenix is the best of the bunch

A bit on the small side but a good mix of people, friendly bar staff and a decent pint make this a great place for a few midweek beers or before going into town at the weekend

Good Broughton Street boozer, good mixture of punters,REAL people drink in here.
Not like the pond life that dominate some of the shitey pubs of the Omni complex 5 minutes up the road.

Used to be a dingy pub with decor of the 'Queen vic' variety. The landlord Big Kev is very scary looking but really is a true gent. Recently undergone a makeover for the worse and started doing food which is a total disaster, nevertheless this is a great pub with a consistently good crowd and atmosphere. The cellar bar is good for having small parties max 50 people.like Jenny says they remeber what your poison is which makes you feel welcomed. go there for pints of the late afternoon, long session variety for maximum enjoyment.

It's a great bar with a fantastic big screen and good jukebox. Great staff who actually ask "same again".

Really good 'quiet drink' pub.

Also has a cellar bar that can be hired out for functions.
