The Ridley Arms is a lovely building from the outside. It has less character inside. But it still has a good range of ales and fairly friendly staff. Ales on during our Saturday evening visit were Ossett Pale Gold, Big Lamp Bitter, Black Sheep Best Bitter, Anarchy Blonde Star, Out There Space Is The Place & Cumberland Corby Blonde. I think this used to be a Fitzgeralds pub. But I'm not sure whether or not it still is.

Went back with guests and was good but nothing overly special. Food was ok, if a bit pricey, staff were friendly and helpful. I'd go back for sure, but it's a bit out of the way for me.

Real ales good but overpriced. I had to chase the barman to find where my meal was after an hour, while the place was almost empty. The chef was standing chatting. When it eventually arrived it was almost inedible and would have been sent back if I hadn't been starving. The so called garlic bread was a soggy, oily piece of bread, almost cold. Just drive past. It's awful.

Good food, and plenty of it! Struggled to finish the fish and chips! Pleasant atmosphere, but can get very busy very fast. Friendly staff and decent prices. Plan to go back there in a months time with a larger party, wil see if it's still of a high standard.

We went to this pub because we had been told the food was great, all 6 of us came away thinking the same, we wont go back again.

The following meats were all dry tough and had obviously been kept warm for far too long, pork, beef, chicken, lamb, the fish was ok but only because it had to be freshly cooked. The veg was only just warm and more on the uncooked side of crisp.

The puddings, Cheesecake was nice, the apple pie was huge and nice, the crumble would have made great hardcore, and the ice cream they only had to put into a glass so that was ok, although at 2 a scoop rather overpriced.

We had to ask for knives and forks and serving spoons for the veg, they then tried to charge us not only for our food but also a party of four at another table.

Come on Ridley Arms, its a lovely pub that could be really great.
