Now the Black prince and much improved judging by the previous comments. A decent range of mainly local beers and a lively gig venue out the back + a mixed crowd of goths, hipsters and ageing post-punk fans. A jukebox too although as per usual, the sound is a little down in the mix. We saw rising band Working Men's Club live here.

It's a bit of a rough & ready kind of town pub where the locals like to abuse cyclists (cyclist didn't seem to enter in to the spirit of things but I suppose I couldn't blame him). The Thornbridge Jaipur was okay but nothing special. A Jesus bus (double-deck) pulled up outside and blocked the light from the window. Apparantly Jesus buses are quite common in the vicinity ( I did see another two myself). Ale was bearable but it isn't something I'd specially trek to this side of town for.

How this "pub" ever got into the Good Beer guide is beyond me. What a grotty dump. We sent one beer back immediately and left the rest!! Don't waste your energy and time walking up to this place - it really is just not worth the bother.

went yesterday, pretty quiet. 5 real ales on, no issues with quality or dog poo

Went in here the other week. First time for years.

All (yes all) of the handpumps had their clips turned round, not available. This was confirmed by bar staff, but no explanation.

The carpet was decidely sticky.

(A friend tells me that a recent visit had customers' dogs defeacating there with no concern being shown).
