A very good place indeed. An accident had completely closed the A303, so (to get to E. Anglia) we had a choice: follow the HGVs towards Salisbury and the A30, or strike North, towards Swindon. This was a good discovery. It is a very friendly place. The drink is a decent range of Wadworth (well kept) and the food was generous portions of quite good pub food. This is not in the least pretentious and is an excellent "local" in the best sense of the world. I hadn't known it before, but I will be sure to stop back again when I am in this neck of the woods. 6/10

This pub is so very special to me.i spent alot of time here as a younger child and have so many fond memouries here,i visited recently and found a very lovely couple across the road, who remember my nan and pap,it was lovely to find someone who once knew them,me and my daughter had a lovely dinner then unfortunatly we had to get home,we live in northampton and we had been to oxford but when i see the sign for oxford i had to keep driving,LOL.I I love that place,i wish i could run it and bring it back to life,it seems that the old broken gate around the side where me and my brother used to play,is still that same gate, and the windows have,nt had a lick of paint since,i understand it was closed for some time, but my nan kept that place immaculate
where is the love,karen x

Hi there my partner and me stumbled on this pub after a lengthy walk. and what lovley people, the food was 5* and the couple running it was so nice and helpful. but as they stated they was covering for the owners while they were on holiday. but it had to be said the welcoming was second to none and the food well mmmmmm.
thank you for a great meal and conversation.

Enjoyable visit. Popped in for a pint after a walk and ended up eating. Great Baguettes, substantial and great value.
Locals friendly and also the landlord and landlady. Made us, including the dog feel welcome.
My 13 year old daughter was intruiged by the layout as she has never been in an old style traditional pub before.

As said before, the public bar is basic, the lounge bar has made up tables for diners. Beer was Ramsbury and one other, I tried the Ramsbury and it was in good condition. After a bit of conversation, the landlady turned out to be quite pleasant after all - also worth a bit of effort to chat to the locals.
