Agree with the previous comments that this is a pub more set up to dining than drinking. Even when I pass on a Monday lunchtime, the car park is pretty packed, so they must be doing something right.
I only popped in for a pint. Had a choice of four ales - London Pride, Doom Bar, Southwold Bitter and Titanic Stout, which was a pleasant surprise. A pint of Pride cost £3.80, went down very well and if that's a yardstick then they look after their beers.

Very expensive and over rated food (IMHO) - Sunday lunch with a couple of drinks came to circa £50 EACH when we got the bill and averaged it out (we had 3 courses and coffee) and the quality was mediocre to say best (all our party agreed)....atmosphere was stiflingly hot and stuffy and very noisy...only the puds were any good. Service was ok, but snotty maître d'. Not a place I would go to for a nice quiet drink at all...shame as the setting is lovely. Not recommended as a pub or a restaurant (there are many better places in the area to eat and/or drink IMHO).

Great place for a meal out, especially if you have something to celebrate (tell them what it is when you're booking). Book well ahead if you want to eat inside on a Sunday; I thought ten days would be enough and had to settle for 'lunch' at 3.15. The food is first class and the service is marked by attention to detail -- while remaining friendly and informal. Only three ales on draught but that's three more than most restaurants have.

Okay if you prefer gastropub overpriced food rather than good honest beer ini the evening. Pay your money and take your choice.
