I do like this pub. It's pricey but the beer is good and the pub itself has a lot of character. The staff tend to be young ladies, some of whom seem to be chosen for their loveliness rather than their knowledge of how to pull a pint, but it is usually a pleasant atmosphere and the landlord always say 'hello'.

Walked in over the weekend to met by a very drunk young 'un who proceeded to wipe his bogey on me. A rather tipsy landlord couldn't give a badger so needless to say I won't be welcome back...hopefully along with said young 'un who now has a few bruises.

Having read the reviews before visiting North Curry for a week, I rather cautiously visited The Bird in Hand. There was nowhere else to dine out so it was worth a go. The prices seemed OK, Main meals started at about 7.50, Ham Egg and Chips, all the way up to 18 for fillet steak. The quality of the food we had was probably a little above average for pub fare.

Again reading other reviews, I was wary of the reception we would receive as outsiders, we have all visited the pub where the darts stop mid air, but this was also unfounded, the bar staff, waiting staff and other customers were all very pleasant and welcoming.

I would recommend this pub, a very lovely find in a pretty village.
