More gastro than pub. Good food, though.

This used to be one of my favourite locals until I moved house. I was back in the area so my boyfriend and I went in for drinks. Not too much had changed. Atmosphere was good. Old and young mix. We got a little cramped for space as the evening went on. We had a few pints, I think a fair price for the setting, and crips (normally delicious) but a little too burnt this time. Waited a little to long for the second batch, but good! I put it down to it being busy. Disappointed I didn't recognise any of bar staff, they didn't seem as friendly as the last bunch. Anybody know what happened to Karen, Fernanda,..? I'd go again (off night perhaps), my boyfriend wouldn't.

What an odd place this is. Staff stared at us like mesmirised owls for ten minutes before parting with drinks. Pricey, flat lager, filthy floors, `modern parents` with annoying brats called Tarquin. Gastropubs are a hellish form of punishment at the best of times but once upon a time in a galaxy far far away, this used to be a proper pub. How times are a changing.

Long time ago, but agree completely with Zaheer. Turned a decent pub into something ghastly.
