Avoid this place at all costs. Ripped off by the landlord serving me a "pint" in a 500ml glass - about 12% short. It wasn't a mistake, it was quite deliberate. On a more positive note, the pub itself is awful.

Scruffy and uninviting. Cold with little atmosphere and just drinkable casks. Sports led with many tv screens and a separate pool room.

Very much a locals' pub. Friendly enough when we went in, and Theakston's best and John Smith cask on offer, plus a singer keeping the few regulars entertained. Not the best place in Knaresborough but far from being the worst either.

Basic boozer in Knaresborough High Street although it has some interesting Tower Brewery stained glass windows and might be a lot older than it looks judging by some of the old beams inside. A big L shaped bar, with five lagers, John Smith's smooth and smooth extra cold plus two handpulls dispensing Hobgoblin and past its best John Smiths Cask. Bench seating throughout the room, the back section is a bit quieter but does have the games machines, TVs showing sport in both parts. Popular and busy with mostly middle aged working men, it appears to be very much a locals pub. There is a Pint and Chilli for 6 night on Thursdays and there is a garden cum smoking area at the back.

Ifind this pub quite good for enterainment pool/sky/quizzes but the landlords dont seem to stay all that long, maybe thats down to the owner who comes across as not the nicest bloke I,ve ever met however I still call in when I,m in town, try it
