A quick trip out to Eccleston and I found this large roadside pub that feels much smaller when you're inside. It was also very quiet with only one other drinker and one or two families there for Sunday lunch. Live football was being shown. 3 ales were on - Jennings Cumberland Ale, Thwaites Wainwright & George Wright Jack Frost. Service was friendly.

A little overpriced compared with other pubs in St.Helens but a good choice (4) real ales and well kept. Black Sheep is a regular for now with others changing. Sky sports all rooms and a big screen. Not eaten but menu and food looks very good, There was plenty of clean plates.

GOOD OUTSIDE FOR CHILDREN
2 MEALS FOR 35 POUND WITH A BOTTLE OF WINE
WORST MEAL I HAVE EVER HAD IN THIRTY YEARS
CHIPS SERVED IN FAT THAT LOOKED MONTHS OLD
PAID BILL AND LEFT

An attractive external appearance hides some fairly ordinary indoor surroundings. The pub is made up of a hotch-potch of rooms with no unifying feel to it, but its by no means terrible, because its a pleasant enough place for a pint. There is a large dining area and a decent drinking area outside, although its a bit close to the car park. They always have Jennings and Cains on and have a regular guest beer. Cheeky Pheasant was the guest beer the last time I was in.

Lovely pub, classy. Went on a sunday afternoon to the restaurant side of the pub. The food was delicious, well cooked and nicely presented, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Was pretty quiet considering how nice it was!! I would reccomend it.
The prices were very reasonable, will definatley be going back!
