user reviews of Prince Of Wales Inn, Lincoln

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This pub is in the old part of Lincoln near the cathedral. Uninspiring beer choice (Abbott, Black Sheep etc) but relatively pleasant and down to earth surroundings to spend time at in this predominantly tourist area. Visited later in the evening on a weekday so was fairly empty and food had finished, so could not comment on this aspect.

Eaten twice at this pub and the food is top notch. It's a simple menu with a specials board and everything appears to be cooked from fresh. We sat next to a couple of french lads who were mighty impressed by the sausages and mash and the homemade burger. Fries are proper potatoes and very good. Very friendly welcome and three decent real ales to choose from. We'll be back and with friends next time.

This pub has been opened out and refurbished quite nicely in the wine bar style but it still retains a bit of a pub feel. There are lots of leather settles and dining tables with high seating in the window alcoves and it has pictures of old Lincoln all around the walls. Three handpumps on the bar with the most boring and uninventive range imaginable. Black Sheep, Abbot Ale and Deuchars, for Christs sake get some imagination! I had a pint of the sheep and the other half had a Deuchars, both were OK, but not great. They might do great food, we didnt try any as wed already eaten at the nearby Victoria so I cant comment on quality. The menu was very similar to the Vic but rather more expensive and the Vic food was excellent. I know where Id go.

Great local pub that's loads better now it's had a full refurb. The guys in there are doing some really good food and have some much needed live music on Sunday nights now too. They're even doing a Pub Quiz on Monday nights as well. A shame they can't afford the sky sports as before but this pub is definitely back on track again now.
