please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Beware! Drug dealers operate in the toilets and in the car park. I tried to find the Manager who didn't want to know and appeared to be in denial.

Apart from that, usual selecting of Greene King beers, microwaved food, disinterested staff and yes, the Neanderthals do sit and block the door way and Bar. Speak to them in grunts and they might understand.

I'm very worried that this Landlord tolerates drugs.

I find the comments made by Ben Shockley & Maverick69 (whoever they are) to be totally uncalled for & totally incorrect. There has been no trouble & rarely even an argument in the pub for years.
I find the 'care in the community / Neanderthal' comments unacceptable. The group of locals that sit near (not at) the entrance have always been most welcoming & friendly.
Reading through Maverick69's comments it is clear that he is not a very sociable person & can't seem to find a local pub he fits in to. This is backed up by the fact that he has visited & moaned about prices etc of nearly 20 pubs over his posts! Can I suggest he rings Ben Shockley, gets a cheap crate of fosters from the supermarket & sits at home watching the last of the summer wine box set.

Having used this pub for circa 30 years I have to say that the pub looks great after the recent fit out. It is also nice that the management have listened to comments by the locals & replaced the TV adjacent to the entrance. This enables the people who come to the pub to watch sport without overlooking & disturbing people that come in to eat the good quality pub food on offer. The new landlord is very friendly & has fitted in as if he has been here for years. The only fault I can think of from the fit out is the removal of the Juke box which was always very popular to keep the atmosphere in the pub. Surely its got to come back especially with the new management team of 'Cas & Dave'!!

Having been a local for thirty years it's sad to hear that some feel it's an unwelcoming place. As for being labelled a Neanderthal, ha ha. if you like a bit of football, bit of banter and enjoy a drink come and join us and see for yourself. If you'd rather a quite drink there's a little area by the kitchen where your be away from the nuckle scrapping bone chewing thugs that frequent the front door !

Community pub that is decent, show me a local that don't have regulars that will use it like their own front room ! We've even got our own remote control for the telly !! LOL

You are right Ben Shockley I've always found the care in the community brigade who block front access a nuisance. It's been a problem here for years under successive management - they need to be taught that it's a Public House not a private drinking den for sixty something "look at me I'm the big I am's"

Sadly to say this pub has taken a turn for the worse. On the plus side recently given a full makeover with the pool table and pedestal table by the door removed. On the downside beer prices have increased at the reasonably priced pub grub menu replaced by overpriced, pretentious ex Chef and Brewer type fayre. Even more on the negative side is that the recent change of landlord has encouraged the local neanderthals to resume their position blocking the doorway and approach to the bar with accompanying glares at anyone coming into the pub. Needless to say the Xmas tree has been moved and their pedestal table returned to its rightful position.

Great community pub with a wide range of competitively priced food and beer. Friendly prompt service at the bar. Recommended.

Strange pub, staff and locals are not welcoming at all and I have lived in the area 20 years !!!!

Great place!
I wanted somewhere to eat and a local chef suggested I try this pub. I loved it and have been back several times since. I have yet to have a bad meal. Prices are decent enough as well.

It's a preet average size for a non-town centre pub. It has a pool table and several TV screens for sport, including a 3D screen.

There's a beer garde, with a heated, covered smiking area

Staff are friendly. It's hard to find fault

Despite it's local reputation, I had a warm welcome from a smiley girl behind the bar, a decent pint and a clean seat.

Yes, the locals stare at you a bit but that's to be expected in a small community.

I went in this pub last night and you would think I had arrived from Mars the way everyone stared! I would not mind so much but by "everyone" I am including the bar staff. Not a welcoming feel at all, I left near enough straight away because I felt so uncomfortable.

I think this is a very friendly pub, where you are always made to feel very welcome.

Love all the trimmings for the world cup, lets just hope our lads do well.
