user reviews of the Crown, Bishops Waltham

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Went here for a Christmas dinner - service was excellent, the building fabric and the atmosphere was very good. The building is a rambling affair, the bar area had a low ceiling and was pretty full when we visited. There were some 4 ales on the handles, my London Pride was in very good condition but the price was probably commensurate with the pub having had an expensive (allegedly £2 million) total refurbishment. Because of this, the pub/restaurant has gone upmarket, not everyone will be happy with this although it's fine for a special occasion.

Fullers have done a good job here renovating but its moved up market - the beer though excellent is pricey. Its a shame for the original patrons who will have to go somewhere else to make a nuisance of themselves but its a more pleasant place to be nowadays.

Went to The Crown yesterday and had a lovely pint and some food sat in their garden at the back. The pub has completely changed to how it used to be and is now very nice. Other people obviously thought that too as it was really busy for a Monday lunchtime!

Things will be looking up soon. This pub will be closing shortly for a deep refurbishment and will re-open as a Fullers pub.

Popped in for swift pint while wife shopped. Very many years ago this was a nice pub with a cracking atmosphere. Long gone now i am afraid. Terrible beer, 'a fight waiting to happen' atmosphere and rude staff. Strictly for people who are more interested in swearing than talking. Best left to its current clients, try the Barleycorn if you need a pint near the shops.

This place is laughable rubbish beer watered down spirits and 15 year old kids
its totaly obvious what goes on in the toilets no wonder pubs like this survive if your allowed to do what you want and the local police obviously turn a blind eye ! Biggest shithole in hampshire ? id say the south !

possibly the biggest shit hole in Hampshire. Awful beer, shit service and the pub is in a very dirty state, smells like piss throughout the whole pub. Do not visit this place, you will not be impressed by the majority of the 14 year old's that go in there. stay away.

Not a very inviting pub, looked good from the outside but interior needs alot of work. Poor range of beers and foreign bar staff didnt understand what I was asking for.

Okay pub, intresting locals. The place is quite smokey and might not be the pub for most. Lively on a Saturday night.

Not a pub to cause trouble in.

THE PUB OF BISHOPS WALTHAM. The Crown is managed by Paul the landlord, and his business partner and friend Nick. Security run by George, trust me you don't win, he is the resident Rotty. Mind you I don't know which I prefer the dog or Paul.......Neither really! Best not to cause trouble!
