please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Haven't been to this pub in years but popped in for lunch. Staff friendly food came out suspiciously quick but seemed ok (if u like microwaved jacket tats). Larger was not very good quality especially at £4.90 per pint. Shame seems to be another pub that has forsaken beer quality for food. I wish these foody pubs would keep up the beer sttandards.

If like me, you're a right wing, BNP voting, x-factor watching, Ed Hardy wearing, pit bull owning spanner, you'll love this pub!

Excellent pub. It used to be a real drug fuelled hell hole, but they've really sorted the place out. I think the no shaven head and no visible tattoos policy has helped make the pub a really pleasing place to drink and dine. Well done. Great Twitter feed too.
alan_kebab - 24 May 2011 15:42
used to drink here from 1976 onwards
would never ever go in there again, promoting
underage drinking.

I went to this pub last night for the 1st time. I'm reletavely new to the area, so a few 'local' people I have befriended have been showing me around.

The bar-staff were not very friendly. During the evening the chap who served us regularly under-filled the pint glass where we had to ask for a top-up... Also, the barrel finished half-way through pouring a pint of lager... when I asked for a fresh pint, the staff contested it stating that all lager tastes the same as it's mass-produced. I did get a fresh pint but I don't think that I should be questioned as to why I wanted a fresh pint. I just don't want crap in my drink from the bottom of a barrel... and nor do I want "the squits" from any sediment in the barrel either!

On the positives, the pub was clean, as were the toilets - but it was early in the evening before it got massively busy. I can't comment on the food but the menu looked good, although a bit pricey - Nachos 8.75...
The Beer was good and several decent pints of Pride were consumed.

Would I go back...? Probably - but there are far better pubs around to choose from...

Well...........Attempted to enter the 'pub'........... refused entry due to wearing a 'sports top' (in reality it was a polo shirt with a small beer logo on it.........no sport.

Met with rude comments from the doorman and land lady...... they lost good custom and I will do everything possible to pout people off from using this excuse for a pub!!!!!

A number of colleagues and I visited the new "Ye Olde White Harte" for the first time since its re-opening last night. After stumbling through the litter strewn, now smaller car park, we entered the pub from the rear doors, only to find hey presto ...the pub was identical to its pre-refurb design and layout.
First impressions..."What Refurb ?? "
After making our way to the bar and walking past crowds of "hoodies" drinking merrily in the bar we were challenged by an impolite bar member, who made no effort to welcome us to the "new" pub. Shortly afterwards a 35 year old member of our group was asked to remove his "hooded sweatshirt" as this garment was banned in an "unwritten policy" of the bar. When challenged as to what other "Unwritten policies " may be floating around in the head of the bar manager we were met with threats and impolite service. When challenged if the "Fashion policy" would render it necessary to make a Muslim woman remove her "hijab" ....we were told that "Those kind of people wouldnt come in here " .... With a hostile welcome like the one offered, warm beer, poor service, and dirty toilets, frankly im surprised that anybody, Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu or otherwise would bother frequenting this applaiing excuse for a "new" pub.
Hasten to say...we wont be returning !

This pub is so much improved since its refurb - previously I hadn't used it for 5 years+ as it had such a bad reputation but have been there three times in the last couple of weeks and every time the service was exemplary, the food good and the atmosphere cordial and pleasant for all. Good for family and just a social drink. The covered tv screens are a great idea too, you wouldn't know they were there!

Hello again, yes Penfold (assuming that the lady in question was the lady I remember talking to) did not sit back and leave us unaware fo her food complaints, and was refunded the full amount for the nachos, as for the burger 'issues' there were none at the time of asking, and it was certainly a clean plate that came back to the kitchen. We appreciate comments wether positive or negative we are trying to make Ye Olde White Hart a place where familys, couples, friends and strangers can enjoy a warm cosy atmosphere with great standards.
As for the ales management are taking on requests and where possible we are providing the ales that are asked for by our customers, prime example is Abbot Ale last week and Sharps Doombar this week, if your favourite tipple does sell out rather quickly then we know to order more next time round :)
Just a quick advertisment Sundays we now offer a full table service to customers wishing to dine in the Tapestry room (although no reservation is required we are filling up and staying full until around 4 iin the afternoon now so maybe it is advisory, also Mothers Day is the 23rd April and we have already started taking bookings, so if you would like to reserve your table then call on 01276622816. See you soon x
legal_eagle1 - 16 Feb 2009 20:58
Penfold, I wonder , did you speak to the staff about your food or did you just accept it and do nothing?
I am sure if you had taken time to speak to the staff they would have sorted this out for you.

Neal, see my other post re the beers. as for News and Ales, that is down to local Camra members to put them into the pub.( That is is if teh pub allows them)
It is a pub that serves food.

Popped in last Friday 6th Feb, found the refurb very nice, a nice place to enjoy the company of friends, no loud music, no pool table and no telly that I could see, wonderful. ales on tap, Hogs Back Tea, London Pride, Greene King IPA and Abbot ale, I had the Tea and it was in tip top condition and just 2.60 a point, a couple of my friends where eating and had no problem with the food at all.
Staff are friendly and the lady who served me knew her real alea , and commented that she worked at beer festivals too, this is a good sign.
All in All a job well done.
salty64 - 13 Feb 2009 18:02
Hello Penfold, i apologise that your food was not up to your standards, and in the case of the Nachos you are not alone. The Chefs have to follow the company specifications, and due to the new layout of the Nachos not meeting the expected requirements of our customers we are trying to change the specification so that they can revert to the nachos served with grated melted cheese on top, thank you for your input on that topic without knowing what the customer wants we cannot start to change things if and when required. I was serving that day and I do recall (providing nobody else ordered a Nachos and a Big Ben burger) that you were offered and given a full refund on the nachos, I do hope that you will return to Ye Olde White Hart, and give us another chance.
As for the signage that is completley out of our control, however although famous is a littel too far, our roast dinners have been very well recieved and complimented upon, with no complaints made to the team at all.
Thank you though for your positive comment about the team, We have a lovely team in place, and with a little help from customers like yourselves telling us what you do and do not want then we can as I say try to put any necessary changes in motion to make Ye Olde White Hart as great as it can be.
Once again I thank you for letting us know, Kate.

after approx 6 months of closure, expectations were high for this local to be re-opened.
the 1st point i'd like to raise is how can a pub advertise that their famous for sunday roasts when they haven't even served a sunday roast?
2nd'ly the service in the pub was great, nice chatty staff i have to admit this wasn't expected.
3rd'ly the food is poor, wouldn't it be great if home cooked organic food was served ! No, unfortunately it's pre-packed processed food. We had a burger which you could tell wasn't fresh with greasy chips & nachos. Expecting the nachos to come out warm with melted cheese & lashings of the usual toppings, i was completely stunned when I had plate served to me with tortilla chips on 1 side of the plate & then 3 little ramakins for the salsa, guacamole & sour cream. But the icing on the cake was a bowl of cold cheese sauce also on the side. (this cheese sauce was simply, cheese sauce you can buy in a jar & is served to you with cinema nachos) not what i was expecting for 7.55.

Please please please sort your menu out as you have a real opportunity to have a great successful local for a lot of residents.
penfold5 - 2 Feb 2009 15:04
The pub is to be opened this Friday and looks very smart and clean/tidu and looking forward to seeing it re-open!

Couple of questions!
1. What Real Ales are on offer?
2. How Many?
3. Are they local Ales?
4. Will you have the News & Ales on offer?
5. Its is a pub or Resturatant?

Hope to pop in this week and find out!

Firstly let me introduce myself, I am Katie and I will be one of the Team Leaders at the soon to be opened Ye Olde White Hart. The pub is due to open to the general public from Friday evening, we have a very enthausiastic team in training as we speak, preparing for the re-launch of this venue. We are pleased to announce that the pub has been refurbished to a very very high standard, and that those standards will be maintained through every aspect of the business.
To all those who have complained about the atmosphere of The White Heart as it was formally I ask you to please come back to us once we have re-opened and give Ye Olde White Hart a chance, we are leaving the pubs past well and truly in the past, with fu can fresh faces, and much much more then a quick paint job we are all willing to give the people of Frimley, and those from further afield a chance to see what Ye Olde White Hart experience will be about, and a pub that you will want to bring your friends and family too for a lovely meal or a quick bottle of wine after work.
We endeavor to make Ye Olde White Hart a talking point for all the right reasons, gone are the days of it being a 'knuckle dragging drug den', those days are gone for good.
Hope to see you soon, until then take care.

Due to Re-Open Shortly!
neil19 - 5 Nov 2008 15:14
There is now a sign outside, stating that the White Hart will re-open, after a complete refurbishment.
salty64 - 28 Oct 2008 18:43
Def closed and covered in scaffolding. Had it i reckon. Another one bites the dust.
nickthefish - 28 Sep 2008 18:17
closed at the moment, sign says "For repairs", many rumours are flying about regarding this pub, one even claims is could be demolished to make way for flats/houses.
Watch this space.
salty64 - 2 Mar 2008 12:37
If you had to invent a small town pub for small town people, this would be it. I used to live round this way and popped in a couple of weeks ago for the first time in 11 years and still the same people! The no hope of the locals is reflected by the bar staff. Avoid!
conflictuk - 18 Feb 2008 15:09
currently closed - huge fence around the front. I'll investigate why and advise.
nogrille - 4 Feb 2008 10:13
found it good, good local, has footy, bar staff nice. yeah good all rounder

After reading the reviews on this pub I was surprised and shocked.
Although I belive there are youngsters whom drink within the pub, it does not mean they are all trouble, even if some of there lack of dictionary knowledge may anoy us at times.
Were we not all young once???
As for theme nights and bands, well I sure don't want to have the rest of my social life to be mundane and boring so bring it on. Whomever has the enthusiasm to do them has my backing anyday.
Bar staff, well they come and go. The younger ones may not realise the clients are not all super studs and not wish to work there. As for the staff they do have, they seem to have great bonds and friendships with the locals (Non biblical), and also treat new customers as if they would like them to come back.
There will always be some one to moan, that's life.
If you haven't been for a while, pop in you may be pleasently surprised :)

Im used to frequent thsi pub regularly before it turned into a s******e about 10 - 15 years ago. So I was a regular and still am a local!
I still pop in a few times a year to see if it has improved - and it is getting there.

Re your comments about Snob/arrogant/"up your arse" etc, how disappointing (but not unexpected) of you to personalise this.
I can only respond therefore by saying that I'd love to see it from your point of view, but I'm afraid I can't get my head far enough up my own arse.
Strikes me that Mr/Mrs Anonymous - below - has made a reasonable observation, to paraphrase Shakespeare (I think) "Methinks you doth protest too much!"

You'll note, if you actually looked, that I was defending this pub.

Regarding the theme nights, they are too much and too noisy for some (which does not make them wrong, simply not to some people's tastes), which means that such folk may judge it from that viewpoint - namely - noisy, rowdy etc.

In my opinion (for that is what this forum is for - reasonable opinion, given fairly from recent experience)it was far better when this pub put live bands on - saw some good bands there in the past - pity!

All I ask is a decent pint out of a clean glass, reasonably polite bar staff, and not to be stared at with hostility by the "locals" - conditions which up until recently this pub simply has not been able to provide!!
Renfield - 10 Jan 2006 16:23
I work in the pub and the regulars are lovely its you stuck up people that come in for a one night and have something shoved so far up your arse and that you cant understand when people are having a laugh and enjoying their work. I agree some of the staff we have had here have been in need of a lot of training but thank god they dont work with us anymore. We have new management and new staff which are trained fully and enjoy there work if you want a clean pub go to London dont judge a locals pub by your expectations which frankly are too high trust me. Dont like the pub dont comeback we have enough friendly regulars who come in our pub respect us and enjoy atmosphere and believe the staff are great. Name another pub in this area that does as many theme nights we do, satisfying every taste and every age it is nolt full of young trouble makers and quite frankly we dont want your stuck up arrogant presence in a lovely friendly pub as ours.
anonymous - 10 Jan 2006 11:51
I have to say I tended to support Mr Kebab's views about this place. He forgot to add that your feet used to stick to the carpet - always a bad sign.

However, depseration forced us in for a pint a couple of nights back after doing a largely disappointing beer tour of Farnham.

I am gobsmacked to have to report that they now have real ale on again, and the Pride was in fact excellent!!

There is still an undercurrent though, a "watchful" atmosphere, but it seems if you leave them alone they will leave you alone.
Renfield - 30 Dec 2005 12:59
If you like the clientele violent and gurning the White Hart on Frimley High Street is the place for you.

Beer wise, anything other than lager tends to be out of stock or foul tasting.

Personally, I wouldn't go there. But if you fancy trying your luck with "giro generation" just make sure you wear a stab-vest
alan_kebab - 27 Dec 2005 19:20
i think this pub has gone very down hill with the recent managers they have made it not a very friendly pub however prices are good
