please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Sadly Kavanaghs is closing down (probably for good), as Jurys Hotel is being closed for refurbishment and upgrading to a Five Star hotel. This means they need to build a pool/gym in the basement - and what's left of the pub will probably be turned into a luxury cocktail bar or nightclub. Next Saturday night (19 July) is the final fling at Kavanaghs.

I will miss the place and the friendly, professional and crazy staff, particularly John, Tim, Jeffery, Trish and Rachel.

I lived in Sth Ken between 94 and 97 and Kavanaghs was definitely the best place to drink

I remember turning up to watch a 5 Nations match there in about 96 and the Fiorentina Ultras had taken over one of the bars, The unflappable manager at the time treated them with utmost courtesy and as a result probably increased the days takings by several hundred pounds

Sundat afternoons were always great drinking pints of Bud and watching the match

Only thing I'd say is that last time I went it was a bit squalid on a Friday night - still its better than coming home from the Tube and elbowing your way past photograohers waiting for intellectual giants like Elle McPherson and Naomi Campbell emerge from the old "Bank" nightclub.

Not a bad pub. Very friendly bar staff and quite a high percentage of gorgeous girls around the place. Shows all the sport which is another plus.

I did a study abroad in London last year, and this was our hang out. They have live music on Thursday nights and stay open until 1am, most places close at 11pm. The staff is very nice, and laid back. It does get very crowded though, but it's a good time.

This pub was in the basement if I recall correctly. I was there back in 1999. It was wasn't too crampt and everyone was quite pleasant. I could not buy a beer in this pub! Everyone was buying this American round after round. I was also able to catch a glimpse of a Gaelic football game and the staff was kind enough to explain it to me on a busy Friday.

I finished up at Janet's bar and I did get one of those kebabs at midnight, you could smell this place for two blocks either direction. I agree not getting the kebab after a few too many should be a crime. But so should closing at 11:00!

Tim's right about the Bosphorous! The pub itself can get a bit crowded on a Friday night, but there's usually plenty of room the rest of the time.

Quality staff and a good pint of the black stuff. Coming to this pub and going home without a bosphorus kebab (opposite-ish) is illegal!
