please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Since the removal of the previous, rude manager the falcon is a far nicer place to be. The ales are good, however, they are certainly more focusing on becoming a restaurant rather that an ale house, which is ok.
It has recently undergone a refresh in decoder and it has shown through, clean fresh and vibrant. Food is still to expensive for what it is, but over all a pleasant place to be.

Friday night mid May, only remaining pub in the village, 8pm. Couldn't get anything to eat despite easily finding a table as they were too busy! Shame, food looked OK but small portions agreed, wine list extensive but pricey.... went up the road to the Royal William... LOVELY!

Took 8 of my family for a birthday dinner on 23/4/11....... It was quite possibly the worse dining experience I have encountered..... They had very little staff on and our young waiter couldn't wait to get out of there and took the order wrong.....you have to wait an age for your food to come.... When it does it's bland and I'm sure the prawns I had were from Iceland... Very poor..... The main courses were a joke..... My mums order was wrong... My sisters order was wrong.... My dads was burnt.... How the chef had the cheek to send that out I don't know....the potatoes weren't cooked.... The steak sauces were a joke.... By the time my dads veg arrived .....10 mins after the first meal arrived everyones was cold....... We made our feelings known......to the chef.... Again who couldn't wait to finish.... I agreed to pay for the starters.... But nothing more....... It ruined the night.... I would avoid this place like the plague..... Sort your act out the falcon..... Ruined my families night!!!!

A strange pub with different sections, one which looked like a tea room. Butcombe was in good nick but the veggie options for food were limited

We called in one afternoon last week and found one of the real ales excellent. Returned later in the evening to visit the annex where the large screen football was on. The Butcombe was undrinkable but was changed. The other one wasn't a patch on the beer we'd enjoyed earlier on. Food was OK but took ages to arrive. Much preferred the Royal Oak.

Must agree with the last comment I understand the place has changed ownership.

Very dull place takes to long to get served with drinks and food takes even longer having to wait nearly a hou for a meal is a bit of joke. another couple sat by us walked out I can understand why .

When the food arrived small portions on large plates not worth the money.

Would not go recomend to anyone!

Gone downhill a bit since I recommended it. Haven't eaten there, but a friend has and he complained - not something he does easily - and the attitude of the waiting staff was awful from his account.

Dinner was decent enough, but the Otter was the only drinkable bitter. And that was being rather generous.

Needs a clean, a few roaring log fires and some paint. As with the Royal Oak round the corner, pity as the town is crying out for a decent pub.

Looks good but the whole place needs cleaning , Very much a locals pub with a few in the bar drinking and getting loud and drunk, Left due to locals went to the other pub for a meal the oak after 20 mins the locals arrived there so not a good experiance locals drunk are not what tourists want to see. I wont be back

Not a good place to go very dirty, smelly atomshere.

Local tend to stand in the bar getting p????d but can be freindly. Some odd characters.

Food is quite good but some of the staff are quite rude.

A very good pub, especially for food

Hotel like establishment on main road opposite church and split into several hotel bar type rooms. Several real ales available. Were there after the Cheese Rolling when main menu had finished but still had a limited choice available - jacket spuds and ploughmans. None too special.
