It reopened a while back as GKII - an Indian Restaurant Bar. I did eat there a while back - it was fairly upmarket and very pleasant. Food was good too.

BORING

Perhaps I understood wrong. It looked open yesterday evening - lights and TV on, but was a bit Marie Celeste as the place was completely empty. No customers and no staff evident behind the bar.

As I understand it it's closed permanently, not just over Christmas. I'll check - I may end up retracting this comment!

theres a sign outside saying its closed for the festive period. what kind of pub closes over christmas and new year?
antmcguire - 30 Dec 2004 20:30
oh yeah its insanely expensive as well.

theres ever only about 3 people in this place, even on friday and saturday nights. saw a sign outside the other day that said they closed during the afternnon for a couple of hours. presumably because they cant afford to stay open with no one in there.

dont know why it hasnt done better. its not as trendy or cool as the autumn house and its not as rubbish as the cherry tree.

anyone with any class goes to the autumn house or toolans, people who like a traditional pub type place where they can sit and have a chat go to the eriss or the wishing well, sumbags and kids go to the cherry tree or the tally ho. there just doesnt seem to be amarket for puzzle, which is a shame as its a decent pub 9although the draught beer is truely the worst ive ever had).
