The Jolly Nailor was my first stop in Atherton yesterday and was my favourite pub in the town. There are 3 rooms, each with different characters. Staff are friendly and the ale choice is good. On my visit they had Dark Star Winter Meltdown, Scarborough Citra, Cross Bay Comet, Allgates Mad Monk & Thornbridge Brother Rabbit. They also had Sandford Orchards Pear Shaped. I went for the Mad Monk, which was a 7.1% Imperial Russian Stout and a fine way to start the day. The jukebox was popular, seemingly with fans of the Smiths and Metallica. No CAMRA discount was offered to me. But still a very good pub.

A decent boozer, 5 well kept casks and a CAMRA discount. Large rear beer garden. The one bar staff member struggled to serve at the bar and serve food.

What a great place! 7 handpulls but only 1 from Allgates, which seemed strange as they own the place I gather. All beers in good nick and with most at 2 a pint a real bargain. Several of them I had never heard of which I like to find.
Landlady seems nice and the bar staff were all very efficient. A nice building with nice decor and a very knowledgeable crowd when it came to the music. Most of them were word perfect with a lot of songs! The band, The Rainmakers, went down very well and after two encores the crowd still didnt want them to finish!
The mix of people was very wide but everyone seemed friendly which is great to find in a small town. Thoroughly recommended.

Once a derelict wreck from a bit of bad townsmanship, now a thriving, bustling, busy pub in the heart of town. Prime spot, smack in the middle of Market Street. One of the best landladies in town.

Allgates beer by the dozen, well kept, and very friendly atmosphere.

Recently repaired and decorated. Live music every weekend, all weekend. Now owned by the landlady that made Old Isaacs what it was.

Not sure if they do food, but they have a kitchen so it's a likely possibility,

Definitely up there with The Pendle Witch for the best pubs in Athy, probably a dead heat for 1st place.

Both the Purple Moose beer and the Allgates California were excellent. Also had another Allgates, Hydes and a Welsh cask cider. Definite revisit

Now reopened as a real ale pub, with 6 hand pumps. Landlord and landlady of Old Isaacs at the helm

Now reopened after refurbishment.

Has real ale pumps which are never used - so I don't go in!

Real nice pub but has no live entertainment of any kind - perfect if you only want a nice beer or two and a chat with friends! 3 separate rooms in the bar area, one for food which is second to none and very very good value for money...the second room is the main bar area and the other is the pool room. Including beer garden and juke box.
