Long since gone and two incarnations past that closed too. The Corner House has taken this on and it's very nice.

CLOSED DOWN;
third time in the same year !

another one gone
secretreveiwer - 10 Jan 2008 15:28
Closed. someone please open it again in the style of a normal pub like we use to have with sticky carpets, old blokes at the bar and stuff on the ceiling. It was overpriced and always had private parties on saturday nights. either that or turn it into luxury apartments for 200,000 that winchester doesn't need.

up for sale.
off 'the student run' now, and as someone else suggested, was a designers dream gone mad..
too many ideas, too expensive drinks, and neither a pub or a cocktail bar.
Rumoured to be up for redevelopment, possibly a restaraunt.

The guy behind the bar is a real looker!! I hope he's single!

A 'boozer' doesn't sell cocktails. THAT is precisely whats wrong with this place, it is neither one nor t'other. When the kiddies have stopped playing at barkeeps then hopefully this place will evolve.

Great food top cocktails all round very decent boozer

By the Way, i meant delicious, not delicous.

Friendly and Helpful staff, Great Cocktails, candlelit views, with delicous food served, music at just the right volume, i highly reccomend this place.

P.S. The Mai Tai's are just as good as the Mojito's

nice little boozer, usually a bit quiet but i was in there a couple of weeks ago and they had a great d.j playing some outstanding tunes ! Nice Mojitos too.

I agree pub does seem to have picked up recently, there was actually a DJ in there a couple of Friday's ago. Gave people a reason to stay in - the music was very cool.

Ha ha ha ha so this is a pub?...oh you're being serious.

The Forester seems to have lost some atmosphere recently - used to be an excellent pub, still good but because of the prices I think people are going else where.

Terrible customer services. Tacky Art and Very Very Smokey. Would not recommend this pub or some called hotel? to anyone!

Mmmm could be so much better. The idea is right and it was a breath of fresh air when it first opened but has gone down hill ever since. In serious need of TLC. Other than that the staff are always really friendly and attentive, it has internet access and decent food.

Nope, all wrong. It's dreadful. Exhibits of local art on the walls - give me a break. They had a good opportunity to turn this place into a Vietnam-themed boozer called 'The Apocalypse Arms' or 'Forrester Now!' but they blew it. Students might like it (because it's dark - oooh how atmospheric) but for those of us in the know, it's a monument to lost potential. Hey Florrester - you 'number 10' pub.

This is a good little pub. Well, I say pub, but it's more of a bar. Great cocktails and reasonable selection of beers and wines.

I like that they exhibit local art on the walls. The overall design is contemporary (if a little DIY in places), although at times it does try a little hard... sometimes a cool looking chair or stool can be very uncomfortable to sit on.

Food is excellent.

Have met the manager on the odd occasion. Nice bloke. Very friendly. Runs a good bar.

I recommend it if you're looking for something that's not the traditional pub.

Bringing a new breed of pub/bar to Winchester. Top quality food, drink & service in welcoming & stylish surroundings. Landlord is also quite tasty.

Martin, what are you like! This is the first venture of Maverick pubs, and judging by the success so far we can expect more from Mr Meijer... Fantastic design and attention to detail are the key aspects here, every drink is carefully prepared, and the food is prepared with real thought. All combines to create a funky atmosphere that attracts those in the know. Well worth walking the extra few yards to spend an evening here, and just as good on a busy weekend as on a quite week night.

Very cool atmosphere, with an even better staff! The food is awesome, a bit more expensive than other pubs, but you definately get what you pay for. Great place to chill out with friends, also show sports on their large tv. Definately one of the best pubs in Winchester.

Great award winning pub/bar with homemade global tapas, warm and welcoming atmosphere, I would say that because I am the owner!!
