This pub has gone drastically down hill over the years. It's always been an eating house but now the atmosphere is very dark. It lacks, well just about everything. I wont bother again.

Yet another gastro pub, inevitably with a minimal choice of ales. But one worthy of the title. I believe this is one of small chain of inns converted by a local entrepreneur.

We ate here twice during April 2007 and really enjoyed the quality of the meals and the friendly service. We visited the pub again this year during a weeks stay in nearby Brockenhurst and admit this has now become a firm favourite. The food is consistently good and the staff very professional. Highly recommend the steak and ale pudding.

Used to be good food and good fun. Refurbished re-opened now its a glorified wine bar.

I passed the place today and it seems to have re-opened under the group known as 'Alcatraz' who have the 'Old Beams' and several other pubs in the area.

I quite agree with the previous comments. The food is quite worthy of a mention. The beers are well kept too.The pub dog makes the occasional roam around the bar, but any customer bringing theirs in will be turfed out!

The Hobler is one of those old world places that does not get many tourists. It is very friendly and not one of those phoney Ye Olde English pubs like so many others. When I was there, the band was first class (Trouble in Mind), and we were all detrmined to return. This will mean a trip from Bournemouth. By the way the Hobler likes their guns, as they are on the walls - just like the stuffed animals. Also the gents peeing trough is used as a charity collection place. Nobody would ever steal those pennies.
