Nice looking pub with a spacious interior.
As posted previously, most of the tables appear to be dedicated to food, however the smaller bar area is pleasant and not a bad place to try one of their two ales on offer, Black Sheep and a really nice Blueberry guest beer.
The locals were friendly, with one stand out man at the bar who made our visit memorable. Give this place a try if you are in the area, before walking to the nearby Malt Shovel for another.

Had a group meal here qty 28 of us. The meals are fantastic value and a great night was had by everyone. I had a steak meal and i must say it was the best i have had for quite some time. When i mentioned to the owner that the pub had a reputation for poor steaks i asked if the chef had been changed. The reply was the meat supplier had been changed , not the chef though. i can honestly recommend the steak it was superb. Once again we found the pub wonderful, meals excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. will definately be going again in the near future.

3 real ales, cheap food. No real atmosphere. Chef unable to cook steaks!

I've revisited and on the second occasion both the Bombardier and the Old Hooky were fine.

This pub was substantially refurbished a couple of years ago to make a larger dining area and the pub is now food-orientated with fairly wide if standard menu. The remaining bar area is attractive (stone floor, low ceiling, one real fire, one gas) if less so than it used to be. Whilst the beer range has been poor for a year, last night it included Bombardier and Old Hooky which is an improvement. Sadly neither was in good condition on that occasion but I live in hope. Whilst there is no garden it is an attractive pub to sit outside on a summer day.
