please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I had a lunchtime pint here and would have had a bite to eat but as I didn't have much time and the staff seemed otherwise occupied most of the time I was there I didn't. Perhaps I just caught them at a bad moment, they seemed to have a lot on but were pleasant enough so no complaint.

The beer was a bit on the expensive side but the quality was fine.

pleasant and quite, nice staff and people!

The Greene King IPA is now 3.40 a pint, which is really a disgrace - even when it's in first class condition, which I admit it was the last time I was there.

I can only really rate the bar as I have not eaten or stayed here but I have had a few drinks. A nice cosy little bar area.

Shameful.

Lovely old building. Staffed by morons. Food appalling - truly, truly dreadful. Service amateurish at best.

Should be an absolute sinecure, but people are staying away in droves.

Please somebody rescue this nice place.

It's a hotel bar, not a pub. When I was there the bar area was dominated by large screen cricket, which (I suppose) is fine if you want to watch it , but obtrusive if you don't.
As stated in previous reviews, it's seriously expensive - 3.20 for GK IPA, 3,45 for Abbot. That said, both beers were in first class condition, though the former ran out halfway through the evening.
Not a place I'd choose to drink in, but not unpleasant if you have some reason to be there and can afford the prices.

Time moves on so no longer smokey. I found the bar snug and comfortable. Decorated with a criket theme im a style consistant with an old coaching inn. My pint of Abbott was very pleasant and there were another couple of ales on offer. Didn't eat so cannot comment on the food but enjoyed my visit.

The bar is Smokey and uncomfortable, the beer is expensive and the staff barely speak English. As for the restaurant, it's overpriced and on the couple of times I've eaten there have never had a good meal. Either completely the wrong order or cooked badly.

Not bad but a bit expensive. That said it is primarily a hotel so you expect to pay a little over the odds. I have always found the staff charming though some of the residents have been a little obnoxious.

Truly dismal. My girlfriend and I ate there on St George's Day and it was far and away the worst meal I've ever had, sloppily prepared and just reheated microwaved crap.
Diabolical. With a setting and location like that it should be a winner, but it stinks. I don't care how hungry you are, and how nice it looks, go anywhere but here.
