Now called AMP. What an improvement from Nicholsons no sad chart based dross for 40 year old chav's to dance around their pints to. Proper music with regular comedy & new unsigned live acts. Feels like a fish out of water compared to the rest of Sale which are nearly all terrible. Keep it up!

I loved this place when it was open! It was definately the best bar in the area, as many regulars have told me! A place with character and the best bar staff, (especially the twins) and manager (Geoff) in Sale! It's a shame the bar has closed.

Should really adopt the slogan 'Catering for a mid-life crisis' - Nicholsons is packed with frustrated housewives and recently divorced men. The alcohol is expensive, but you really need to be tanked up to the hilt to be in this place anyway. If it is some milf action that you want, then this is the place for you

one of the nicer places in Sale; still fairly mundane though. Not a lot of character.

There is a fantastic new comedy night starting up in Nicholsons - called Innocent Criminals. Its been set up by two of Manchesters hottest up-and-coming comedians Dave Bishop and Rodney Marques (who was a finalist in Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny Competition in 2003)

The first night will be held on November 2nd and the line up looks like this:

MC Rodney Marques introduces
Des Sharples, Steve Shanyaski and Dave Twentyman.

It costs only 2 to get in,and the night will start at 8.30pm.

a complete mystery as to why the place is so empty throughout the week, the lunches are excellent and very reasonably priced and the staff can not do enough to help. Nicholsons really is in a different class to any other bar or resteraunt in Sale and a very welcome change for me not to be surrounded by young people in the same age group as my children, highly recommended to all

I'd love to give you a review, but sadly the cavemen-like bouncers decided on the spot that there was a no trainers policy (even though one of my friends was wearing trainers already inside), get real, that sort of door policy is outdated and going to lose you custom, my group of 8 friends all promptly left... we were celebrating a birthday and would have been spending a lot of cash... still, Nicholsons loss was the Kings Ransoms gain... and please check the age of some of the teenage girls going in... for a fact I know two of them are 15 (I know their Dads!!)... one to avoid

I love this place, and it is exactly what Sale needs. Very good (but cheap) food, clean, crisp venue and an upmarket crowd. However, it is probably in the wrong location (can't do much about that), and the music is absolutley DIRE ! At best it represents the cheesiest middle-aged wedding DJ playlist you will ever hear... no class, no atmosphere and does the bar no favours what-so-ever. This bar should be aiming for the funky side of Smooth FM, instead they are playing out-dated Doors tracks, wishy washy ballads, and the sound track to Dirty Dancing (true!). We have visited at weekends for lunch and been the only people in there ! If the owners of the bar are reading this, please get in touch for some musical direction... your new venture in Altrincham cannot go the same way !!! Your efforts in creating a "Living Room" style chain are falling flat due to one reason alone !!

I wonder what 'privilege' that would be. one of the senior members of staff was extremely abrupt and rude with me, and then proceeded to humiliate an employee in front of the customers.

I agree it is Pretentious but a little pretention never hurt anybody.

Fabulous venue for a slighty more mature crowd. Daytime is relaxing with selection of broadsheets, great menu and friendly staff. Night time it comes alive. Clean toilets which go down a treat, no fruit machines and child friendly (day time only). I would highly recommend you take a visit.

A coffee bar,A lunch time eating brasserie, an a la carte resturaunt, a sociable drinking bar without loud musicmaking your ears bleed, polished wood flooring, light coloured decor, a very pleasant experience for people that want qualityand dont mind paying a bit more for the privilidge and real service. just what Sale has been crying out for, and not a scallie in sight..
