Cheap food but no cask ales.

I have visited this pub for about 5 or 6 yrs,,,, i can honestly say i have always had a nice meal and most of the staff are friendly.....

No ales on when i went in. There was a stale smell like a pensioners flat. Not as cheap as i was told but certainly a lot cheaper than some of the rip off pubs in the area. Not somewhere i would go out of my way to visit again.

It's been a long time since I was here and it's been sanitised, removing all the previous character in the process. Still does real ale, but nothing to write home about.

Whatsoever, While it's true the vault can be a little "lively" at times, It's no worse than any other pub vault. The "Best Side" is your typical town pub, a mix of all kinds from old seasoned drinkers to couples out for a quiet evening together. They have a good quiz night on a Monday, a pub football team and a pool team if you're that way inclined. The food, whilst not going to win any awards, is always hot, generously portioned and very reasonably priced. For value for money drinks you cannot fault the bar prices, with Carlsberg currently �1:70 a pint and many offers and promotions. The pub does not show Sky TV so if you're looking to avod football crowds in a pub on match days - this could be ideal. Hope this helps!

We looked round a house very close to this pub at the weekend and were warned (not for the first time) to avoid this pub like the plague as it's so rough. However the comments on here don't look that bad - so what's the truth of the matter?

Have been a regular visitor to the pub for over 10 years, The beer/ lager is cheap, currently selling Carlsberg lager for �1.59 a pint . I have eaten in here regularly and have never had a bad meal.
A good pub to include in your pub crawl, if in the Broadheath area (local to tram stop) and runs a 'wicked' quiz on a Monday night @9.30.

Food has been terrible in here for our last 2 visits, despite us all ordering something different on the menu.
If we do venture in again for the cheap Boddies, I don't think we'll be eating

Used to go in here in my youth and always a good night .
Went in recently with my other half and son and was pleased to find it still friendly, nice cheap Boddies and reasonable food.
Also the young lad behind the door couldn't have been more helpful
Still wouldn't risk the vault though !

Used to scare the life out of me just walking passed some weekends. Took up the courage to in once, though and wasn't quite as bad as I feared.

great pub, cheap ale, yes the vaults full of idiots but it keeps them out of the main area of the pub, where anyone can enjoy the cheap prices and the food aint bad either. not a patch on the porterhouse though

Huge pub recently totally refurbed, gone is the DJ and loud music, in is a quiet Sizzling Steak Branded Pub with food emphasis... Still a few of the old clientel hanging around the bar, though the land lady does try and keep them to the (now Separate) Vault. Great Value beer and the food aint too bad now either... If you've tried it before last November and thought NEVER AGAIN! Try it again.. you'll be surprised!
