user reviews of the Beehive, Carterton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Beehive in Carterton has recently reopened after being refurbished. It is now delightful and my colleagues and I regularly pop in for lunch. All food is freshly prepared and cooked and the chips are perfect! The prices for drinks and food are very reasonable and the staff are friendly and helpful. It couldn't be further from the reviews below.

Mediocre pub. It gets business because the other pub in the town is worse.
Very unfriendly atmosphere.

hugely over inflated prices adding 11p on top of the budget on the drinks. Even crisps are 80p in most cases. The atmosphere is like the interior dank. Its like a real life example of Moe's from the simpsons. The staff are slow, lazy and rude, but can't blame them when the costumers are rude themselves, every weekend night the place is filled out by ugly ugly people. The only plus is its the only pub to show football games on sky in this town, and with the pub trade bein killed off now i don't rate this places chance of survival without some big changes

Massively over-inflated prices. Awful, rude, slow staff. The landlady makes you feel as though you are ruining her day by being there. Poor atmosphere, decor is shockingly bad, looks very run down in daylight. Not too bad for watching sport, if you have to. Only keeps business due to the very limited choice in town. Comes a distant second to the Aviator over the road and that pub is poor.

what can you say about the beedive. its overpriced, and the staff make you feel as welcome as a fart in an astronaught suit, as for paying too get in why, just dont bother, build more pubs in carterton the sooner the better.

i would just like to set all records straight from the above comments and as a Full time member of staff there i believe i have the right to do so. Firstly, there is a 2 charge to get in after 9pm on fridays and saturdays ONLY! As for the bitter situation, We do Henry's IPA, Henry's Smooth, 6X Keg and 6X traditional and believe me the atmosphere is a lot better than the aviator. Fights are not often in fact they are quite rare, prices of drinks is the brewery not the house and reasons for no bottles is because if you stand on a glass it will shatter whereas if you stand on a bottle it's more likely to shatter your ankle than the bottle.
Right so thats cleared. Look forward to seeing you!

its not a bad place really. yeah you have to pay 2 to get in after 9pm but its open later than over the road (the Aviator) and you can have a good laugh (drunken dancing fun.)

Terribly overpriced. The only bitter is IPA which is disgusting. After 9pm they have the nerve to charge you 2 entrance EVERY NIGHT. Very little atmosphere or character. You're better off going to the Aviator or Jaggers.

I stayed at the beehive on 5th October 2004, I have no complaints, the staff were friendly helpful and the atmosphere was good. I can't understand the other 2 comments made about the Beehive. Thanks for an enjoyable stay Vicki and the rest of the staff.

Awful. A seriously bad atmosphere. When you can get buses all round oxfordshire til the early hours why is this place still in business?

Its a cold place. Its the only chance to get a bit of dancing in, but also is one of two pubs that cater to RAF Brize Norton. Fights are often, drinks are expensive and you can only drink out of glasses, no bottles.
