Now many did not like this pub but it was not without its own particular charms - one being the big screen for sports events the other cheap beer. So what a shame that it has closed right before the world cup has started as I don't know of another big screen pub in the area.

Re opened but to be honest don't bother

anyone know why...it was ok here...cheap booze

Now closed. Trade had dropped off since the smoking ban and there seemed to be a problem with the kitchen. Always seeing food being sent back. Can't see it reopening as its in a bit out of the way.

This pub is due to close soon but this has been the situation for the last 3 months. It has gone downhill as a result. Still cheap but very little to now recommend it.

Loved this pub. Outdoor area is nice, staff friedly, Decent beers and ales on tap as I recall and very good, reasonably priced food. Enjoyed the out of the way location.

Cheapest bottle of wine around. Rioja was 5.99 and quite quaffable. A lot of locals frequent here but its certainly not unfriendly. Decent bar staff as well. The equally cheap food is ok but the portiuon sizes have recently got smaller. The pool table has gone and been replaced by some comfey seats. Can get a little smokey. There are better pubs around but it is still one of our regular haunts.

What more can you ask for, cheap beer and big screens for football and plus the added extras of seeing some council chav punch ups.......twice in fact

This is our usual Friday night post-work haunt and while small, the C&H is perfectly formed. Bar staff are without exception friendly and helpful, beer is well priced for the area and there's never any trouble. Small patio area out the back for the summer (OK, 3 picnic tables in a yard) although the pool table (as mentioned above) has severely reduced the capacity of the back room. 8/10.

Has the potential to be a great pub but wish to god they hadn't put the pool table in. Food has become a little indifferent of late, and service can be slow at itmes (especially on a Friday night).

Quiz night is Monday - a big shout to Gordon as he makes it a great laugh!

Potentially a great pub... if you could get served. I only work around the corner but at lunch times it's a lottery to see if you can get a pint in before having to head back to the office. That said, this pub is better than any other in this area.

Does the job this - if you work in the area it's a good place for sport, or a relaxed pint on a sport-free night. Not exactly one to travel to from elsewhere, but not a place to avoid.

Fairly average hostelry, but still a cut above any chain pub you could care to mention. Saving graces were acceptable Pride and Adnams on tap and non smoking back room. On the whole, I would probably go for the Cardinal around the corner rather than this one.

Apart from a certain non music pub chain this is the cheapest pub in Victoria and unlike the other it has atmosphere. Had a great few drunkard nights and afternoons here after work. The only bad thing is that everytime I've tried to order food the kitchen is closed when on the board is says its open. Isabella.

great pub.....who is the landlord???????????

A small friendly pub not far from Victoria Station and well worth the short walk. Small back room that can be booked free for parties of about 20/30. A well kept pint of Adnams or London Pride available from the landlord Matt Dunne. A small beer garden is located at the back with patio heaters for those chilly autumn evenings.
