Ha ha. The Red Cow is no more. Thank goodness this lair of criminality and deceitfulness ceases to exist. Gone are the drunks, down and outs and troublemakers. The High Street can return to some semblance of normality now. I hate pubs closing down. But this wasn't a pub. It was a dive bar of the highest magnitude. Good riddance to the Red Cow. May you and all of your previous occupants burn in hell.

PLEASE PLEASE AND PLEASE ! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PUB. THE PUB LANDLADY AND SOME CRIMINAL OPERATE A MASSIVE ILLEGAL CLAMPING OPERATION . I ENDED UP PAYING 375.00 TO THESE CRIMINALS EVEN THOUGH I USED THE PUB AND BOUGHT DRINKS IN IT. IT IS A BNP PUB WITH LOTS OF RACISTS THUGS HANGING AROUND IT. THE BAR MAID'S NAME IS CARLY AND SHE IS THE MASTERMIND OF THE CRIMINAL OPERATION. AVOID THIS PUB BY ALL MEANS.
I HAVE NEVER HAD A WORSE OFF EXPERIENCE LIKE THE ONE I HAD TODAY IN THIS PUB. 04-APRIL-2012. THE CLIENTELE IS STRAIGHT OUT OF A HORROR MOVIE. THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE.

Have to downgrade the rating on this pub even further due to the money grabbing tactics they are employing. If you try to park in the pub's car park, clampers will arrive straight away and charge you 165 pounds for the privilege of having a drink. Even the chancellor does not rip drinkers off this much. Avoid at all costs. Hopefully this pub will go out of business soon, with this attitude.

Gone downhill...was excellent 3 years ago or so.

Popped in here to watch the football. After 5 minutes of the match, the music was pumped up to nightclub levels to satisfy the middle-aged alcoholic crowd. No consideration at all for anybody who had come in for the sports. The barmaid propped the main door open when going out for a smoke, just to keep herself warm. So much for the smoking ban. Passive smoking is back in the Red Cow! Good for its entertainment value, if you enjoy people making a fool of themselves. Otherwise, keep on walking.

What on earth has happened to this pub?! Where's Martin? I my veiw it's gone back to the way it was in old Jack Beard days - what a dump! so sad to see this pub like this everything the old landloed created is gone, no fun, no food, no music, no point going there really.

Must say, it has got much better lately. The landlord to be commended in getting rid of the nutters.

Got to agree with Marty48, I stopped in for a beer and ended up leaving several hours later!!!Good service, good locals and great atmosphere. It used to have a fearful reputation (rightly deserved) but it seems ok now.
Found a wedge of cash on the floor and returned it to it's rightful owner who rewarded me with Stella..Mmmmm..The Laget that is, not the dress designer!!

Obviously 'Pete the Feet' hasn't been in the pub that often because food is served every day(except Sunday) As a local businessman I have my lunch here daily, and very good it is to, always presented well, and extremely tasty, and well cooked using fresh local meats and vegetables(so I am reliably informed by the governor!).
Since Martyn took over just over two years ago, he's transformed the pub which had a bad(ish) reputation into a friendly lively pub, where both young and old are welcomed and made to feel 'part of the family'.
There's always something going on, and Martyn is always thinking of different events and functions to keep his customers happy. His Sunday 'bar snacks' are becoming legendary!!- definitley a pub to visit. The Bar staff are pretty special to, always attentive, and friendly, real characters in a pub that's full of them.
Top marks to Martyn and his team

A very friendly, welcoming pub. The food served is the best for miles around and very reasonable! Martyn, who runs the pub, is a wonderful person who does his utmost to make everyone feel welcome.

A lively up-beat pub that seems to cater for all ages. Excellent atmosphere on live football days, state of the art digital juke box 6 plays for 1!! free bar nibbles on sundays. Staff very friendly & service was quick. Toilets where the cleanest ive seen in this town! Menu not bad basic pub grub. Im going to visit this pub more often

pool tables, karaoke, football and lots and lots of chronic self abusing.

Don't take any notice of the sign that says "Food served here" - it's a lie.
