please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Planning permission has been given to replace pub with residential flats. Land owners waiting for market to pick up before carrying out demolition and construction.
Minesapintaplease - 21 Feb 2014 14:32
Still closed.
EyeOfTheTigerBeer - 14 May 2012 19:42
Now "tinned up."
flashharry1965 - 5 Oct 2011 08:22
Shut, with tall weeds growing on the patio. Rumours that it will be bulldozed.
flashharry1965 - 20 Sep 2011 11:12
Looks like it is shut down at the minute, not a great loss if it has.
beershot - 14 Jul 2011 15:39
More 'Shit Hole' than 'Watering Hole'.
FuzzyDuck - 3 Jun 2011 12:06
Had a very entertaining evening with my boyfriend in the goldsworth last tuesday night, being firm United fans it was great to watch our game along side the chelsea fans watching theirs... great atmosphere for football fans, no hostility between the mixed fans, even the liverpool fans got to see their game in the back room.... absolutely best pub in woking for any sports fan, if your not watching your favourite game you can spend hours walking round the pub looking at all the sports memorabilia, could do with a lick of paint though...
femalebeershot - 4 Feb 2011 20:05
A dump, bad beer served in a bad atmosphere.

Avoid
beershot - 27 Jan 2011 18:18
Still Russ Hedges apparently.
flashharry1965 - 25 Aug 2010 08:18
does anyone know who owns this pub now ?
spam40 - 25 Aug 2010 06:58
In on Saturday afternnon for Chelsea v Everton game. God, how it's declined in the last three months!
The Guinness was like sludge, the lager was flat and the barman still seemed drunk from the night before - twice he topped up pints of Fosters with Guinness!
The fixtures and fittings are beginning to look tired, the toilets absolutely stank and, despite being advertised and confirmed twice over the phone, no one knew how to tune the TV to the football until we had missed the whole of the first half.
Definately going downhill - sell up ahoy?
flashharry1965 - 15 Dec 2009 16:08
Popped in on Saturday afternoon to watch the Stoke v Chelsea game on Sky Italia. This was my first visit for about a year and the Goldie was still looking neat and tidy from it's last refurb. Only Pride avaliable on cask but the cold Gunness certainly went down a treat on a warm afternon.
There was a very cheap menu which we didn't try, but in the past the food here has been fine.
In all, not a bad pub, worth the short walk from Woking town centre to be able to catch Saturday 3pm kick offs.
flashharry1965 - 14 Sep 2009 10:20
Total crap hole used to be good but gone right off the boil dont bother go to archies instead
grumbleweed - 28 Feb 2009 14:11
Oh my God. Worst pub I've been into for a long time. How can a sports bar NOT have Sky Sports?! Absolute dive. Couldn't wait to finish my pint and leave.
Luke_L - 18 Feb 2009 13:17
I'm glad others have seen what a crap pub this is. The 50 pound a ticket is no surprise. It has been going this way for ages. Will anyone turn up - that is the question??
GuildfordAndWoking - 26 Dec 2008 16:30
I`d rather sit on a park bench than pay that, come to think of it i live on a park bench Hic.
Beersupper - 17 Dec 2008 15:02
50 for food, drink and entertainment - over several hours isn't bad; but then, its optional.
pubsentry - 17 Dec 2008 14:53
Hickory334 - you're spot on. How can any boozer that people attend all throughout the year suddenly have the audacity to charge 50 for what is essentially just another (overrated) night?

House parties all the way New Years Eve. Save the ripping off for if I need a taxi home...
Searching_for_H_Files - 17 Dec 2008 14:45
50.00 for a New Year ticket and okay that includes your drink but even so if you managed 10 pints it'd only be 30.00 elsewhere - total rip off the place is going downhill faster than Eddie the Eagles career use Sovs instead
hickory334 - 17 Dec 2008 14:35
They've wasted a great chance of a good pub here.
BigAleDrinkhead - 1 Nov 2008 16:22
Always so quiet. You'd think they could do better with such a big pub but nothing compared to The Sovereigns down the road. Obviously its a bit of a way out from the Train Station.
TheSensiblePubReviewer - 25 Oct 2008 09:54
Owners keep changing lately. Try Sovereigns instead.
BestBeerBoffin - 19 Sep 2008 10:26
give it up as a bad job it's not what it could be
doctorbeer - 9 Sep 2008 15:36
Recently changed hands. Lacks atmosphere, which is disappointing, given its a big pub which could be so much better.
PubMessenger - 24 Aug 2008 11:11
Disappointing on last visit. Not sure i'll return.
TheSurreyPubMan - 5 Aug 2008 22:14
I went down for the relaunch it was busy and the band was good but it wasnt really much different
hermiek - 22 Jul 2008 20:11
Pub is under new managment and closed for refurb until the 18th when it relaunches with a weller tribute act, hopefully this will breathe some new life into the goldie cos it had really gone downhill over the last few months will go back and give it a go and re-post after the re-launch
BigK - 15 Jul 2008 11:48
I have been told this pub is closed or is closing down, flats or should i say apartments to follow.
A Queen song comes to mind !!
Beersupper - 5 Jul 2008 15:44
only use this pub as it seems to show the games that nobody else is allowed to beer is awful so drink the bottled stuff
viceman - 27 Mar 2008 18:35
Draft beer is not good
compo55 - 18 Feb 2008 17:34
Got to be the only pub in woking where the bouncers tell you to spark up in the bogs still at least you dont freeze your bits off outside
hermiek - 13 Feb 2008 23:05
its ok
rcc - 5 Dec 2007 14:23
The previous comment just about sums up the state of the Goldsworth at the minute.
aleman - 21 Sep 2007 22:30
Used to be busy & fun, now it has a desperate feel to it
HOTSHOT - 17 Sep 2007 15:14
Top night out
kennard - 22 Aug 2007 00:10
This place opens really late in fact, not sure what the place shall be like when the smoking ban comes into force. But in the meantime you can enjoy yourself. Great offer with wine as well on Thursdays where you can buy 2 bottles and get the rest of the bottle free, though it has to be said by the time you have had two glasses there is not a great deal left in the bottle!
aleman - 29 Jun 2007 01:32
Doesn't seem to be as popular for the disco's as it was.
stroller2 - 30 Apr 2007 17:57
Started out okay but seems to have lost it's appeal, it's completely dead during the day, (maybe the divvy staff are to blame for that - lacking in the personality department), but it's still worth a visit on the weekend nights, beats the Boston bar (but then that's not saying much)
NOMADS - 27 Jan 2007 14:01
Discos are good best place in Woking for 70's 80's music
Welby - 5 Jan 2007 11:38
Good disco on a Friday night, plenty of cheesey music
JonPearce - 4 Jan 2007 23:23
No door people, so may well be possible to come here and get drink if under 25. However with the lack of life decided to go elsewhere
aleman - 22 Dec 2006 01:53
The Goldsworth Arms is the best pub in Woking, the prices may have gone up, but the live band on a thursday is great and the disco on friday and saturday is brilliant! Great pub to watch the football and have a game of darts in! Very friendly staff and even get free food! What more can you ask for!

AdamHolland - 28 Sep 2006 20:11
NOT the place to go if you're expecting cheap beer - although it seems if you know the barmaid well enough you get if for free. Barmaid was just rude, nothing would stop her flirting with some bloke across the bar and she had the most annoying laugh ever. If you're going over 25 maybe the bar staff should be the 1st to go, then I mite go back and actually get served rather than ignored.
anonymous - 18 Aug 2006 17:44
Its a over 25's pub now, which is a good thing, as it really was the pits.
Needs a bit of a tidy up outside tho.
NormanSpoonBender - 17 Aug 2006 13:08
Went to opening nite which was wkd. Packed out, didn't think staff were that bad a bit on the young side but on the whole they tried and were pleasant enough, service was slow but it was busy, suggest they get someone out to collect glasses as the empty ones were everywhere. Dance floor was cool will def go back, it was reminiscent of the good old MD's days!
foxydrinker - 16 Jul 2006 15:22
Has anyone seen the signs advertising the opening night, surely they can't be serious. They look like they've been written by a 5 year old and as for the spelling... "Free entry befor 9.30", somebody tell them that before has an "e" at the end. If the adverts are meant to be encouraging that's something else they've got wrong, as for paying to go in that dive after 9.30, no thanks.
anonymous - 11 Jul 2006 16:19
Have to agree with comments about the bar staff, they are the worst in Woking by far, slow and stupid and spill half the pint before it even gets served. Rumour has it that they are making it over 25's so maybe that means the new owner will get rid of crap barstaff as they can't be out of their teens! also prices have gone sky high so you would need a very healthy bank balance to drink here on a regular basis
lastorders226 - 10 Jul 2006 15:00
Under new ownership since mid June' fella thats got the Robin Hood. No more cheap drinks. New bar staff doesn't do it any favours either.
anonymous - 7 Jul 2006 14:00
What's happened to the Goldie? It's now an overpriced dive. The bar staff are so young they're barely adolescents, and are more interested in talking to each other than serving beer. If you're looking for a cheap pint and some relatively intelligent conversation then give this pub a miss. The only thing lower than the bar staff's ages are their i.q.'s.
BoozyBoy - 27 Jun 2006 16:37
to be fair there used to be a load of ruffens in there, but after there big re-vamp recently it seems to have straightened up a little. to be fair theres hardly anybody in there at all now but its quiet at least. good for a game of pool, cheep beer. i like it.
jay_hard - 30 Aug 2005 21:17
full of people who act hard, sit around the pool tables without actually playing, and never venture into town because they hate change. if you're not a regular you will be looked at and the staff smile whilst serving in a kind-of 'you'll get beaten up' way. pleasant.
captain - 6 Oct 2004 18:31
I don't mind having to trek from town to here, mainly for a game of pool and some good grub. I enjoy the atmosphere, and lack of SWAP (standard woking area pikies) that reside there. I didn't like the idea of staff changing ashtrays whilst smoking into the customers.., hmmm?!
anonymous - 20 Sep 2004 20:56
great pub, cheep, decent food shows the sports - what more can i say ?
jay - 10 Jun 2004 14:56
Good pub, good pints and reasonable prices, pool a bit expensisve but nice atmosphere and a great place to get hammered.
Alastair - 5 Apr 2004 11:27
its amazing the best pub in the world
michelle - 2 Nov 2003 21:04
Nasty external colourscheme!!!

(Oooh, get me!)
Vindaloo - 10 Sep 2003 15:05
Great pub, when I worked at Safeway this was a wonderful after work watering hole. And there are several pool tables not to mention a snazzy jukebox
Fletch - 6 Jun 2003 19:29
