First port of call in my recent visit to the city. Sadly not my cup of tea in all honesty. 3 handpumps on, Harvest Pale was in fine condition. Maybe it seemed less enticing as they had the painters & decorators in refurbishing. Geared for the eating brigade.

Not bad at all - pretty busy for a Thursday night but they did have two Christmas parties in there (in November?). Decent pint of Spitfire and London Pride on hand pulls plus several lagers etc. Food was good. Smallish portions and not cheap, but tasted good anyway!

Excellent pub. Nice and lively in the evenings (especially at weekends) but with a quieter, more laid back atmosphere during the day and sunday afternoons. It has a superb position smack opposite Nottingham Castle.

After one or two disappointments on a recent business trip to Nottingham, I fetched up here with an hour to spare before my train and found it very welcome. The pretty lass behind the bar served me with a smile: topped up my pint without being asked; and also gave me a serviette under it to avoid me getting dripped on :-)

It was very comfortable and peaceful in late afternoon - just what a tired girl needed to set her up for the journey home.

Oh - and the Pride was lovely *happy*

This pub used to be great when it was a "grotty firkin thingy". I spent many a happy hour in there, met loads of friends, loved karaoke on a Friday night. It was the best thing about my time spent living in Nottingham. Imagine my disappointment to return to find this soulless thing in its place. I know the firkins were a chain, but at least most of them had some atmosphere. Unlike here.

I have been in this pub once and would enjoy visiting it again. We were there in the early afternoon and it was clean and quiet. Just what we wanted at the time! There were some young, oddly dressed people drifting in as we left, so I assume we probably would not enjoy it as much when full and active. The new arrivals appeared to be looking forward to a good time. I hope they did and wish I were young again! A very nice and friendly place.

This used to be a grotty Firkin thingy, but it's now been turned into one of the coolest understated pub / bars in Nottingham. Great music, fantastic service. The best place I know to spend an afternoon or evening curled up in a big leather sofa, slowly enjoying the effects of a few great drinks
