Appeared to have no ale on when visited recently, the bar fonts all appeared to be lager/ciderfizz/wine. More of an alcohol dispensary than a pub, we didn't bother staying for a drink.

Busy town centre bar (rather than a proper pub) in a fairly large historic building which is laid out to get the most alchohol to the most people as quickly as possible. Very much aimed at the binge-drink market, and the availability of ale is sometimes unpredictable. Now a Slug and Lettuce as nigelrowe (below) says. Two ales on, I had a Wells Bombardier on my last visit which was served at the right temperature and most enjoyable. It's OK at lunchtime and when it's not too crowded, and it's a good place for large groups to meet up, but not the place to go for a quiet pint in the evening compared to other pubs nearby.

Oh Dear! How Dire! All Eurofizz, apart from one handpump tucked away at the end of the bar, which sported a Deuchars clip. Not for me, so off we went to pastures new.

Pint of Ringwood 19 Shilling very pleasant. Nice quiet (though characterless) place for an afternoon drink; all hell breaks loose as the young crowd turn up in the evening.

Now a Slug and Lettuce!

not keen... about 10 years out of date...

Looks much better since the refurbishment but the food hasn't improved. Also they stock enough of my favoutire alcopops!! Some of the staff are quite grumpy!

QUite cool on a weekend if there is a few of you out - very loud but fun atmosphere. Staff always seem friendly.

Just been refurbished again and the place does look cool.
However went in a few weeks ago for lunch and they had just had a group of 10 in to eat so they werent serving anyone else for a couple of hours.
