user reviews of the Duke of Buckingham, Kingston Upon Thames

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Horrible management couple with a rude vulgar nasty dried up Magdalene nun at the helm.
Her 30 stone fawning 'socialist' husband keeps her gossip circulating.
Yobs and skanks run the show and the 'management' let them rule the roost.

A disgrace to the once great pub culture!!

Last of the traditional pubs. Good Irish and locals scene and will remain open as they have bought the building and saved it from the developers.

Two bar pub with 70s interior. A couple of parking spaces at front but no car park. Two real ales on - Marston's Pedigree and Greene King IPA - I had the IPA and it was in decent nick. Big screen tv and games machines in one bar. Looks like an ok local but not one for ale buffs.

It now has real ale and is still a down to earth locals' pub.

Non-descript sort of place but at least the barmaid was friendly. No real ale.

life on mars could have been set in here

They had no real ale on just some bog standard lagers. This is quite a comfortable pub its a bit like stepping back to the 70s with its separate public and saloon bars, and metalwork bar gantry. If only it had some copper-topped round tables. I wouldnt want to turn anyone against this place as its a pretty decent pub, but the absence of a decent real ale is the kiss of death for me.

If a man was allowed to marry a pub, I'd marry this one. Great jukebox.

Pa used to drink in here in the late 70s & still has a certain charm & at less not pretenious like so many pubs though I give it 6/10

This is my nearest pub. But it's not "my local"

Wow what a dirty dingy place! Full of old drunks and chavs! Aint going back there!

I agree with PJB, the Buckingham has kept a lot of its old architectural features but unless you like Guinness Extra Cold there is bugger all to drink there.

Probably best left to the local 'regulars'. Traditional pub, but bit grubby and a bit of a lack of welcoming atmosphere...

Popped in yesterday (used to live in the area 25 years ago!).

Not much going for it bar the curved doors & separate bars & standard beers on sale. However i DO wish there were more pub these days un touched by the hands of time.

Landlord and Lady are top notch, but the pub has a bit of a weird vibe, like when you sit in an electric chair!!!!

good pint, but full of dodgy punters

went here once as my mum lives down the road. It conforms to standard Kingston pub levels - ie pretty darn average.

A disjointed, unpleasant pub (& toilets) but nice staff and the beer was OK. Curved doors are a feature.
