Quality food though expensive, especially for lunch. Nice setting and lovely decor inside.

New owners since February have built up the wet sales trade in what was always considered a bit of a foodie pub. Considered one of the best eateries in Somerset and certainly well priced - cooked by Rick Stein trained chef Adam "the scouse" Dwyer. Always 2 Firkins on tap, presently Otter Ale and Bath Gem - John keeps them in perfect condition! One of the last pubs in Somerset to sell draft Old Rascal Cider. Soon to have draft Orchard Pig and new Devil Fish Ales.
Good sincere friendly company & free freshly made crackling on the bar on Sundays! Fantastic sunsets overlooking Downside Abbey - well worth a visit!

I think I preferred this place as the Ring o' Roses.

New owners, very welcoming and seem to know what its all about. Still mainly a foody pub but the food is really special if a bit pricy. The waitresses were very smart, friendly and knowledgable - two real Ales and draught local cider but at 3.10 a pint for the ales, again it was a bit pricy - but maybe that's what you have to pay for log fires, sofas and newspapers these days.

Mainly a foody pub rather than a local. Beer well kept, but a bit pricey.
