Seduced by the menu posted on the outside wall but disappointed to find it was out of date. Nice, relaxed vibe in the bar as I sipped a pint of Guinness (only blondes on tap). Clearly popular.

This is an unusual establishment. Not a pub in the traditional sense, but a bar on the ground floor with I believe more of a nightclub in the basement and a restaurant up above. The ground floor bar area which is where we stayed has a high ceiling with black tiles, a black brick backdrop to the bar and wooden flooring. There are plenty of black and white photo�s pinned up above the bar that look like they are from New Orleans, in keeping with the Creole theme of the pub.
The furniture was all made from some extremely large bamboo sticks, there was a large sheep�s head (or similar) stuck on the wall, a good sized palm tree and a DJ console in the corner with a couple of large but good quality speakers perched on the adjacent mantelpiece. There were three large lizards pinned to the wall in between the speakers.
The menu was in keeping with the Creole theme of the establishment, and although it looked tempting we didn�t sample it on this occasion. There was also a good sized outside decking area which must be a nice spot when it�s not pouring with rain.
Beers on tape were Potbelly Best, Marie Celeste and Oakham Helter Skelter. There were also a couple of American beers which seemed fitting. Ciders were Addlestones and Weston�s Traditional Scrumpy.

This place used to be a Thai restaurant. It now has a restaurant on the top floor (Cajun), a pub/bar on the ground floor and a music venue (Voodoo Lounge) in the basement. There are two outdoor courtyard garden areas. A lot of the furniture is bamboo, dating to when it was Thai. The pub offers a good range of real ales and keg beers (e.g. Goose Island on tap). All beers I have tried have been on good form, and food is likewise good. It can be very loud of an evening in the main bar, but there are plenty of places indoors and out to avoid that. Often there is tinned music in the bar and live music downstairs. Overall an excellent place and well deserving of the CAMRA pub of the year award for the local area.

Unusual venue for Stamford, and Peterborough CAMRA Pub of the Year for 2009. Friendly staff, a fair choice of real ale including local brews and a very pleasant outside drinking area for this time of year. Popular with the younger set, especially at the weekend. Currently fighting to keep live music - petition signed on a recent visit; unfortunately incomers from the London area like to move to "England's best stone town", buy expensive town-centre "properties" and then spoil its character by trying to turn it into what they want it to be.

This is a weird and wonderful pub with interestng decor around the rooms. Enjoyed Digfield Barnwell Bitter while seated outside earlier this month. There is a room upstairs set up for dining.
