Visited on Carnival night, absolutely packed. Effective but polite door staff. I was served almost immediately with a completely full glass of good quality beer by pleasant bar staff, and charged a reasonable price for it. Customers in an excitable mood but still very friendly. By far the best pub in Wells.

I second the previous review to mine. The Rose & Crown had large groups of youngsters at one end, with older patrons at the other. There was also a busy outdoor area at the rear, again with youngsters. The interior was bright and colourful, whilst the beer range was better than I'd expected - Courage Directors, Exmoor Gold, Cotleigh Albatross & Dark Star Hophead. One of the best pubs in the city.

One of those small town, 'all life is in here' pubs which is a common thing for Wells. It's good to see a range of generations enjoying a Saturday night drink and the ale selection was local and well chosen.

Nice friendly pub. Proper pint of Gorge Best.

Really good atmosphere, Thatchers Gold was very drinkable, great garden, which is very well cared for. Good landlord, perhaps I'll make it my local and improve my italian but I suspect a lot of the words he comes up with would not be 'suitable' for polite Italian company. It's refreshing to enter a pub and feel almost immediately one of the crowd.
Isn't that how it's supposed to be?
Worth a visit if you are in Wells

Decent enough pub conveniently located just off the High Street. Surprisingly quiet on a Saturday afternoon, and a fairly disinterested bar maid. There was a plasma TV showing sports of some sort, but we opted for the rear garden/patio area. A decent size with several tables to choose from, including several under cover. Also a childrens play area and a pool table in an annexe of the patio.

Tribute & Bombadier beers on draft, plus Gaymers Original, Thatchers Gold and Olde English ciders.

Fairly quiet, and not much foul language when we popped in here (Probably because Dave, the landlord, wasn't present!), but I'm told it gets rather busy at times. Had a good couple of pints.
One very efficient young lass behind the bar, serving the usual suspects, one of whom was your typical "Listen to me, I'm interesting you know" types, which was quite entertaining, but the two people listening to him were flagging, having heard it all before. One of the better pubs in Wells.
