Nothing exciting.

Does live Jazz on some nights of the week.

Would go here for a late night coffee or tea.

Ok if your not an alcoholic.

Yeah, G & W that does rather state the obvious doesnt it.. but i dont really think its all that im not a real cafe person to tell u the truth they tend to be pretty soulless with no real character this is a little better than some in my opinion such as starbucks or whatever. u know if u want an interesting pot of tea it is ok. but dont come here for a pint!!

Me: Can I have a large glass of red wine and a Gaymers cider please?

Woman behind bar: That will be 8.50.

I guess you can make what you want from that price, but this seemed a bit pricey for what is a caf that serves wine and the odd bottled beer and cider. I came here last Tuesday night (7 Oct) entertaining a potential H-File candidate. While the layout downstairs is relatively narrow, it is not a problem as long as the place is not busy and on Tuesday night, we were only one of three couples downstairs.

The dcor here was nondescript, while the woman serving me was friendly and efficient, even sharing a bit of banter with my H-File candidate. There is a small upstairs section where another couple were eating, but the toilets are tiny. The relaxed atmosphere ensured it was the ideal place to entertain my sophisticated (30 something) lady friend. At least I now know from my time in Guildford that Thai Terrace is probably the most expensive place to eat out and Jo Clarks is arguably the most expensive place to drink (after Harpers nightclub)!

Certainly a place to come on a quiet midweek night with a female partner, but in my case, not somewhere I would come looking for H-File victims on say a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night.

I really can't see what is confusing about the layout here, you basically have a downstairs room, an upstairs room which has an outside patio area and some toilets upstairs too. Not quite my cup of tea or my pint of beer. There are however bottled beers!

It took me a while to get used to this place because of it's "difficult" lay out but it's amongst the friendliest most relaxed establishments in Guildford and we always pop in here at some point during our way either up or down the hill.

Not a place for a pint, Coffee bars don't count!

At first there appears to be a lack of seating but once further inside there is plenty, including an upstairs and outside area too.

Minimalist appearance in this place, modern looking though which is alright. More of a cafe than a pub but a few bottles beers too.

Wine Bar, small but friendly. Somewhere to stop on a night out.

Wine bar in the centre of town. Not much room downstairs and only bottle beers but staff are friendly, nice relaxed atmosphere and the live music helps with the chilled out atmosphere. Not a "Blokes Boozer" but definately one to visit with the other half if you fancy a relaxed, wine bar for a change.

An eating place or perhaps a drinking coffee place. I don't know if they even serve alcohol here

Good chilled out atmosphere and nice people at Jo Clarks. Also, they have great live music on a Wednesday night with Sam Harrop, who plays the piano and sings, well worth a visit...

Very small wine bar. Quite a nice cosy atmosphere and most popular with couples and small groups of ladies.
ben_the_melon - 28 Mar 2005 21:57
They seem to expect a ten pound tip before you leave.
