This pub was probably the best of those we tried in Cornwall yesterday. It's tucked away down narrow lanes. But amazingly, we arrived to find the tail end of a beer festival with all pints being sold at £2. The ale selection remaining was Adnams Lighthouse, Exeter Lighterman, Gales Seafarers, Hanlons Firefly Bitter, Skinners Ginger Tosser & Porthleven, Morland Old Speckled Hen, Wychwood Hobgoblin, Wadworth Horizon, Wickwar Bob, Harveys Sussex Best, Teignworthy Reel Ale, Cheddar Gorge Best, Quercus Devon Amber, Wells Bombardier Golden English, Moor So'Hop, Lacons Falcon Ale, Quantock Wills Neck, Dartmoor Legend, Arbor Blue Sky Drinking, Moles Elmo's Fire, Bath Barnsey, Wells DNA, Oakham Bishops Farewell, Marstons Pedigree, Green Jack Trawlerboys Best, Summerskills Bolt Head, Exe Valley Devon Glory, Beerd Silvertip, Mordue Radgie Gadgie, Harviestoun Schiehallion, Forge Dreckly, Springhead The Leveller, Sadlers Hop Bomb, Shepherd Neame Bishops Finger, Everards Original & Brancombe Valley Summa That. The only cider remaining was Heron Valley Devon Cider. Amazing to find such a great range of ales in such a rural pub. The pub itself seemed quite cosy, with a dark interior. There was plenty of outdoor seating, with a nice garden. A singer was performing live in the beer tent. Not sure what this place is like when there's no festival on. But I quite enjoyed my visit.

My favourite pub in the Newquay area. They keep their beer well and the food is exceptional. Add in pleasant staff and a nice fire, what more could you want?

Stopped here on Thursday for a quick bite to eat. There was a pie and ale festival on. 80 beers. Went to try some but only 2 sets of tasting notes. the tent was busy and could not read the notes as other people wanted to have a look. The pies were tasty and varied. Beer was ok.

Visited three times at the end of February. Excellent Suday lunchtime pint and was busy with diners with what seemed to be excellent roast dinners. Back on Monday evening for a lovely meal off the specials board- a little above average prices but restaurant quality and friendly attentive staff.
Another visit for a couple of pints on a chilly Tuesday evening after an abortive trip to The Old Albion in Crantock. Got talking to the landlord by a roaring fire- a very pleasant experience.
Would give it a ten but some people would say the food was too dear.

What a find whilst on holiday in Newquay. Formerly a thatched farmhouse with low ceilings, it looks like it has been extended over the years to accommodate a good number of diners. The pub backs onto rolling fields stretching across a breathtaking valley - the sunset was amazing whilst we were sat on the upper patio area. The usual suspects for a Cornwall pub - a selection from St. Austell's and Skinners on cask, plus ciders. I favoured the 'house' ale which I think was a re-badged St. Austells HSD? The food was outstanding and the 'flock' of curious peacocks pecking at your feet added a bit of humour to proceedings. Slightly out of Newquay down some twisting country lanes to Cubert - but only 7 in a taxi. Well worth the effort.

Super country pub/restarant reached down a narrow lane (Oh how I hate driving down those). Standard pub menu supplemented by some interesting specials. All very pleasant and reasonably priced. Skinners, Tribute and Doom Bar of which the latter slid down a treat. Service was a little slow but that just left time for more beer especially as I wasn't driving back.
